Difficulty with patcher. Windows 11 issue?

Been trying for the last three days, cant figure it out - anyone able to throw me a bone?

When I run the THF patcher, an error pops up

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this message and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Acess to path 'C:\blahblahblah\everquest_rof2\ActorEmittersNew.edd' is denied

The folder is on the desktop, I've tried running as administrator but to no luck, and have tried disabling firewalls. I've also made sure that my NET. is up to date.

I am not very tech savvy, and to be honest - at a complete loss here. If anyone is able to throw any guidance my way i'd be incredibly thankful, as i would love to get back to the server after a long AWOL period.

Sounds like it's a permission issue so maybe try to extract the RoF2 client to some other location, like C:\RoF2. Desktop is under your user profile, so maybe that's the problem.

Might want to confirm the file is not read only.
Confirm you are an admin
Confirm you are the folder/file owner

If the patcher is trying to update the file you can try to either rename or move file to different location to allow a new file to be created. Don't delete the file in case you can't recreate.

Some AV software will also block, may have to add an exception.

and make sure the file actually exists. Sometimes you get Access Denied when the file just doesnt exist (strange when it could be a file not found error) and i know there have been problems with the download being corrupted / missing files

Have you also tried the different compatibility modes in the Properties window of the exe icon ?
