Mages- my personal problem

Mages- their very description says they are master of elements. They can summon elemental of any type, YET they can't cast anything but fire and "conjuring" spells.
Seriously- where are the Cold Nukes?

This thread is more of a rant on to Verant marvelous "vision", rather than request to change anything.

I love idea of a mage, yet I never can bring myself to ever play one past level 20 simply cause my eyes hurt from all the fire sparks I get from every single spell I cast.
I am suppose to be a master of elements- where is my ICE element????

So - I don't care about dps, all I want is nice blue colored ice nukes
We could take some of them from the wizards- they won't mind, will they?

So in all - I propose to make some of the appropriate level ice nukes (from wizard, shaman, druid, whoever) to be also mage useable. They will be in level with their fire nukes, so no change in dps.

I could make a list of spells from other classes who could share their cold spells with the poor mage

Other: sure give them a cold nuke or two but definitely dont give it a resist bonus ( in fact it should probably be +50 to resist so it doesnt put wizards out of place) or perhaps instead of a nuke a cold based dmg shield :P

well i don't want to create any new spells technicly - cause thats a lot of extra work for Tyler he doens't really need
I simply like to let them use some of those that allready exist, which takes like 10 seconds to adjust to be useable for any given class. So I can go over the list of potential cold nukes and only pick those that do not have some sort of -resist bonuses (like some of the wizard nukes for exmaple)

Given our Gms approval of course

I will present you the list later on today

I voted Other because I could care less either way. I do agree with the OP that they are masters of elements and that should reflect in their spells. I would suggest a give-and-take:

Mages get some magic-based spells. Since the arguement is that mages are masters of elements, there should be no reason for them to have magic-based spells. Replace these with equal-powered ice-based spells and leave the magic-based spells to the wizards where they belong.

Then again, on the other hand, the role of the mage isn't to be an element-based wizard type, they are a pet-based class. Magicians are pet summoners technically, and not element summoners. They are in tune with the elementals of the elemental planes, just as necromancers are in tune with the demons of the hells that give them the ability to summon undead servants.

I blame verant for creating very poor lore wise destinction between mages and wizards.
yes mages should have fire and cold, while wizards should have magic and lighting.
And I always thgout that destroy summoned line was more approate for the wizards than mages.
But its a bit too late to do a class revamp on allready active server =)

ok Spell list:

levels shown for W- wizard, S- shaman, D-druid, M- suggested for mages

Frost Bolt ------- W1 -- M2
Numbing Cold ---- W1 -- M4
Frost Rift -------- S4 -- M4
Icestrike --------- W6 -- M8
Shock of Ice ----- W8 -- M10
Column of Frost -- W8 -- M12
Frost Strike ------ S23 -- M16
Frost Shock ------ W24 -- M26
Ice Shock --------- W34 -- M40
Frost Storm -------- W41 -- M50
Frost ---------------D55 -- M46
Pillar of Frost ------- W51 -- M65
Winter's Frost ------- D65 -- M62
Glitterfrost ---------- D70 - M67

there is a gap for 30s and 50s, but i could not find any appropriate cold spells for that range that would fit in between mage fire spells DPS wise.

PS. Verant really didn't plan their spell names ahead of time, its very easy to get confused by "Icestrike" vs "Ice Strike" and "Winter Frost" vs "Winter's Frost" and so on.

They did technically get one on Live (click here, and here, and here) I've been meaning to get these implemented for awhile but i haven't mentioned them outright. I'm working on a list of things for mages that i intend to get to Tyler asap and i can work these in if you want :P it wouldn't be a bad idea imo.
