Rystarvz wrote:Well you are not a dps class so your dps "role" will of course be very limited. However when you tank you will have much more to do than if a rog attempted to "tank".

Its just how it goes.

I get that, but is it the way it HAS to go? Games evolve.

Yes. What would be the point of playing other classes if they were not different

I'm confused. How are classes not different?

If we made paladins high dps we would need to make rogues tanks, if we made rogues tanks we would need to make wizards dual wield etc etc. Class niches is what EQ is all about, I personally think tanks are doing way to much dps already

I'm not trying to be rude, but I think you came late into the discussion. My original post, and my point throughout this entire thread was not about making paladins "high dps." I've stated several times that I'm fine with where they are currently in terms of dps, instead I made suggestions to make the dps role of a paladin more interactive.

Paladins interactiveness is based around his spells(particularly heals and utility such as pacify/root) and not his dps or damage abilities though ;)

If I get right what Eppic is trying to say - he is looking for more buttons to push, rather than just auto-attack and heal ;)

This is kind of why EQ2 combat system way superior to eq1 - there is always something to push, or more importantly - you MUST know how to use your abilities in SMART sequences, in order to produce any dps/tanking at all - auto attack does almost nothing in eq2.

I do kind of support this point of view, but remake of the system is currently low on my list. I would like to see that happen, but just don't have the time to do this myself.

But look at this - compared to paladins - warriors are just dieing from boredom ;)

i box because my warrior is so boring @ times lol. auto attack - and i have more threat than ill ever need (unless our zerkers go all out- good lord Estarot can pull agro like theres no 2morrow)

I do understand the desire to ahve an extra offensive ability or 2 - so your actually doing something in combat - but the way things are right now keep everything balanced - i think adding something that would be balanced into the game for pallys would take alot of work (granted im not a dev) but would also lead to other classes - like warriors asking for something to do too - id kill to have ANY form of spells - offensive defensive etc, on my warrior. (but yes i do love warriors as they are so dont touch them please 8D)

Well to bad on EMU stun is basically broken compared to live.
Would be monster to have fights you had to stun on but on the other hand you could do what some guy on EZ was doing one day and use bard stunsong to solo a whole zone at once.
It pretty much comes down to balance and time spent and while I would love to see some love on the class with more buttah to push its just a low priority.
One of the main reasons I did not make a paladin when I started and one reason I didnt keep one around in the form of an alt.

would it be too overpowered to give pally/sk some sort of endurance burning skills like warriors? nothing as strong as warriors obviously. but something. i don't play pally but if they are like sk's they certainly have no good discs defensive or otherwise to pop and burn endurance. all my good discs are clicky except my best class one which is over an hour on recast.. endurance is pretty well an untapped stat as far as i can tell for knights. i do remember back when i didn't have better discs chaining my weak ones to pull out a win against vulak. and on those occasions i'd use a lot of endurance. but that is a rare occasion when i was forced to use all my discs that barely do anything at all. honestly knight discs.. at least sk discs are all but useless(not counting my glove clicky which is my bread and butter). but i suppose that is getting a bit off subject.

my main point is an endurance burning skill might be nice for knights since they don't use endurance for much else.
