I would love to pvp I miss it so much!!! but we would have to find a way to regulate a tourny. you would have to put people against other people of there same lvl.... maybe you could do it by what they are flagged for. beause there is always gonna be a variation of hp and ac with in same bracket of players. I would definatly be down for some pvp!! keep me posted if you ever get a tournamat going I'm definatly down. I played a warrior main on sullen zek and I also had a mage. I loved pvp with a warrior! I would wait till they got me to 10 or 15 percent health and pummle them with crit hit disc!! worked like a charm! I remember back when you could coin the person and take all the gold and plat they had on them lol were good times!

Having originally come from Rallos Zek pvp was what kept me playing for years. But it just seems like it really would be hard to work here. Post PoP it lost a lot of it's luster with Disc AA Harm Touch and Mana burn insta kills and poor rogues who have no chance of ever getting behind a character since every helmet has see invis on it. PvP is awesome and could be fun but just seems like it would be really hard to do well.

I like the idea of haveing 1 or 2 zones to play in with high level quests that are completely game on! where you have to do alot of running around through out the 2 zones to complete the quests or you can just sit in there and pvp =) that sounds like a blast to me. and maybe have it so in order to complete the quests you need so many pvp kills? that would rock!! we should take a poll on that topic. I be it would come out in strong favor to have 1 or 2 pvp zones with quests. I would do it in one smaller zone and one mid sized zone. that way you would have a chance to catch someone for a kill!

what if there were different tournys with set rules? ex: lvl 50-55 5v5, no arm ench, just spell buffs, to prevent from people who spend a lot of time collecting sweet armor from destroying everyone. i think something like a pvp tourny should be about more what the classes are and how they are used, not because their armor is constantly lifetapping life.

Remeber that PvP is "broken" on EQ. I use the "" as EQ was not originally developped as a PvP game (the PvP servers were added to make the people requesting them happy) and is not balanced whatsoever when it comes to PvP. Once you're level 70, there is nothing a caster class can do to win vs a melee class as the resist gear is easy to come by and utterly destroy these classes capabilities. Factor in the fact that a caster class is as solid as a wet sheet of paper and you have excluded quite a few classes from the tournament.

I'm not saying I'm against it, I personnaly don't care (when I want to PvP I go play a FPS) and if it makes you happy, by all means, let's have a tournament for you folks but I just wanted to highlight one of the main frustrations that comes with PvP in EQ.

I don't know if i completely agree with this. It really came to the era of pvp. durning SOF, Kunark and even Vel resists were hard to come by. Planer gear had off the wall stats (I remember getting my POF pants as a ranger and it having int on it) Ice Comet was one of the cheapest pvp kills. but once PoP came out and the introduction of 100 hp 10sv all items and AA points it became more tricky for casters to get easy kills... That is casters other then Wizards (manaburn). I remembering them tweaking the resist levels you needed pretty constantly throughout gameplay. I remember i originally need 50 sv magic to resist root, and 90 sv mgc to resist snares. Eventually by OOW when i quit gear/AA was the only determining factor in PVP. anyway the only thing im getting at is unless you were a Enchanter(charm < pumic stone), Rogue("You can see me?"), and maybe a Necro(No fear) You can generally find a way to hold you own... unless your fighting a Bard, then your just SOL no matter the class.

I gotta say, each class in its own right had some pretty wicked tricks in PVP if played right and to the fullest capabilities of that class. Casters ruled the roost if played well. A druid could destroy any melee with enough open room, and even without open room, damage shield and self heals = win. Wizards were NASTY, no matter what. I knew some seriously wicked shamans. Debuffs and virulent paralysis made it extremely difficult to kill a shaman, not to mention their HoTs. I've even seen some clerics PvP like a pro.

Obviously, melee's had a clear advantage, but skill and knowledge of the game negated a lot of advantages. I PvP regularly with a beastlord on Tallon Zek, and I've seen some people pull off some amazing kills with less than average gear playing a caster class.

It's all about exploiting weaknesses in other classes and playing to your top ability and strongest characteristics. Creativity never hurt.

Oh, and jousting was the single most important skill to any seasoned PvPer. If you can't joust, you can't play any melee class, period. Became handy for a caster to "dodge" a melee joust, too.

My only wish is that they never merged the Zek servers! =(

I MISS PVP.Coming from playing 4years on Tallon Zek and then a year or 2 on Zek after the server merge. I wish there was a way we could make pvp here more practical . This would be very tricky tho.Hope we can figure something out, im willing to test some stuff out.
