Multiboxing Set up

I haven't done a whole lot of multiboxing and I am trying to find the best/stable set up.

I currently use the SOF client, and have wineq2 installed. However, everytime I try to zone, my client errors out, stops responding etc..

I am tired of constantly reboot my client every time i'd like to zone. I would appreciate tips from people who are successfully MB'ing here on thf.

How much ram does your computer have, and how fast is your processor? Also, what OS? Have you tried using the titanium client to see if you have the same issues?

Zoning with mutiple boxes usually takes a very long time for computers with insufficient ram or slow-ish processors. If it is a ram issue, I could see it seemingly take forever to zone, just b/c the computer has to call on memory from the HD which takes a million times longer than it does to call memory from the ram.

If you have windows vista than it would be even worse, because vista eats ram like no other. I have to have my vista settings down so low that it basically looks like windows 98, just so I can 5 box even with 4gb of ram.

About SoF, well I know many people do box with SoF but it's still a nice thing to rule out if it's easily accessible by you.

Hi,

In my case, I do not use 3rd party programs (I just parse sometimes).
I 6-box old school windowed mode with a 2005 computer, minimum graphic settings and no luclin models.
Using Titanium
AMD Athlon 3400+
2G RAM

I can zone the 6 characters at once without any isse (I use a lot Wiz AA bind teleport).
I sometimes face crashes but it is often when I log in all chars.
Once they are all in, I never crash.

Since I do not face crashes with T client, I never tried SOF.
Loly.

SoF is one buggy client for multiboxing. I had the same issues you did and I narrowed it down to the fact that I would switch window focus during the zoning process and kill the client. If I kept the focus on the zoning window, it wouldn't crash. So basically I had to zone each client individually and wait the whole zoning process, which isn't fun. I switched to Titanium and the zoning issues went away.

BTW Lola - You 6 box using alt+tab?! The only reason I still use wineq is for window hotkeys!

I have win7 4gb ram, a q6600 2.44ghz processor and an 8800gt 512mb gfx card.

I think the problem is what was stated above. It seems the clients crash whenever I switch to another window. I am going to try running the clients in xp compatability mode and see if it changes. I like the drakkin and would like to keep sof running if possible.

I suggest holding out for the SoD client in the forth coming weeks. I've found SoF to be quite bugged. You will notice a finer transition with boxing with SoF/SoD, however. Faster loading times, smoother dual core support, etc...

New here myself but can say i only had a few problems while boxing and using the Titanium Client but 0 problems related to zoning.
But i have a question and hopefully don't hijack this thread anyone has experience with broadcast software and got it running here ?
Cause on live i never had any issues like i have here with it.
As a example i used Hotkeynet on live without problem but here 0 luck with it.

i box using titanium client and vista64.. id say its pretty stable. although i used to crash a lot, but that was due to low memory and my harddrives needed defrag badly. now its much better.
