The pet has some pretty good stats and seems able to mitigate damage fairly well against boss mobs. The Pet has close to 50k hps so he doesnt insta die. If the mage is able to get the pet behind the mob he doesn't get eaten nearly as fast.

We don't focus any healing on him and he makes it threw most, not all rampages so far (of course I know this will change with harder targets). I haven't parsed any of our fights but I might just start doing it. We have a cleric, sk, ranger, druid, bestlord and my mage. I do take some hope from the last post about mages later in game as they are my favorite class but I'm concerned by others opinions also. I would hate to get into tier 3 or 4 and then realize my class isn't needed or wanted on raids because it just sucks period.

I appreciate the input. My inquiry about DPS classes is based on the hopes that my mage will have her place on raids but if not then what classes I need to be considering as that is my prefered style of play (DPS). I really can't thank you all enough for the info. I really love this server for obvious reasons like custom content but also the community is so helpful

I generally log him in to loot the mage gear that would otherwise rot.He is geared pretty well though and has the pet focus items, his 2.8, and the fear toys (weapons, and armor) for pets. I logged in last night and summoned the 2.0 pet and the fear toys and the pet has 51k hps and over 6200ac. Seems he should be able to survive decently so long as you don't send it in it to tank.
A mage should be able to keep him alive by keeping him behind the mob and healing him up. The level 70 mage pet heal heals something like 8k on the pet so the raid healers shouldn't have to worry about the pet at all.
I may have to play him a bit more and see how he does.
