Thinking about coming back to THF

Howdy peeps, some of u may or may not remember me but i used to play a character on Thehiddenforest awhile back named Veridian (wizard). I had quit the server due to real life cash/time restrictions but i am thinking about coming back now that i have the time. I do not have my account any as i gave it away to a friend when i quit. I have a few questions if anyone doesn't mind answering that would be great.

1. What are some of the more useful classes now, in terms of utility and damage

2. Are there any progression guilds still around or is it mandatory to buy a flagging key to be on par with server?

Also if u have any tips for a returning player please let me know as ill be looking over the character classes on the forums plus whatever anyone reply's here to make my class decision.
