New to the server.

Greetings,

I am a long standing Eq player/lover and looking possibly to play on another Emu server. I had played for a bit on other servers and it was fun but a bit restrictive in many ways. I noticed you are alowed to box multiple toons here which does interest me.

I am however not finding information on setting up for the server, is there a spot in the forums that I can browse to find direction for setting this client up? Atm I have titanium to modify and also wondering if theres a newer version I should be using or not.

If you go to the main portal page, there's a link to a new player guide up towards the top, above the server updates.

In a nutshell, what you'll need is a fresh, unpatched client install (titanium, SoF, SoD, or Underfoot), a download and installation of the THF installer, and an updated spell file. The player guide will walk you through how to get all of these things, it's actually very simple. The fresh client install is particularly important if you've played on another EMU server.

Thanks you very much I will check that out immediately. I was a bit worried how long it may take for replies this is a good sign! Yes I keep a fresh copy of titanium for various uses.

One other question which I won't completely know until I get in the game but are folks allowed to offer custom UI's (I noticed a page about it with no real yea or nea asnwers)

I did some custom UI work for one of the top players on Shards and well he pretty much set me up with a Kings Ransom of goodies for the help (I asked for nothing was just glad to help him lol) Oh and by custom not totally custom I just tinkered with the work of folks who have created great UI's for Live like Sars,Aya,Vert etc.

I personally don't use a custom UI but I don't see why not I know several players that use custom interfaces. The only issue I can see is that the UI's from sites like EQinterface are generally kept up to date and may not be compatible with the older clients, but if you make your own I'm sure it won't be an issue.

You may want to double check with Vaion or Lillu, there's nothing about it in the server rules but I'm not entirely sure what your custom UI's are capable of.

Custom UI's are always welcome. In fact I believe there use to be an old thread somewhere with a couple of working UI's that were modified and available for players to use.

Personally, I use my own custom UI because i cannot stand the default. Way to boxxish for me. =p

And welcome to THF! I am sure you'll love it here. After I stumbled upon this server I have many Live friends that have slid over and are really enjoying it. The staff is great and support is far superior to Live. As you see, yes there is activity, and yes 99% of your questions will quickly be answered [if not there may not be answer].

The best part [I feel] is that the devs and GMs treat you like a person, not like a minor statistic, which really shames Live since they made so much money.

The community is very fun and friendly, and you don't have to be L337 [lol] with 50K+hp [or whatever it is now] for people to talk to you.

Also, I applaud the custom content here. You can really tell a lot of time and thought was put in.
