I’m sure most people around today have no Idea who I am. Years ago, I had the opportunity to contribute to The Hidden Forest as a content developer/binary manager as one of the first staff members. It was a wonderful experience that I continue cherish even as I have moved forward with my family and career. I wanted to take the time to specifically address a few things:
First, I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Lillu. When I began working on THF, I had previously worked on many servers. What immediately jumped out was Lillu’s ability to lead and motivate others. He was clearly the best leader/manager of any eqemu project I worked on—even counting my own. Sure, we did occasionally have minor creative differences (probably my fault!), I never questioned Lillu’s integrity, intentions, expectations, loyalty, or competency. He is a great guy, and his dedication shines through on THF! Thanks for your many sacrifices!
Second, when I initially had to step down, I was most concerned about no one stepping into my old role. Vaion stepped into that role and has certainly demonstrated more skill and finesse with content than I ever achieved. Ultimately, he is a great person and to him, I say thank you for stepping up and helping push this project forward.
While there were positive things I contributed, I think my biggest weakness was my ability to commit. Sure, there were weeks when I spent hundreds of hours trying to debug memory leaks, and I was reliable then. However, I feel like ultimately failed to deliver on many things I promised Lillu. As I’ve matured, I’ve delineated goals from commitments and gained a better understanding of the importance of honoring commitments. For that, I do sincerely apologize to Lillu, the development staff, and the community.
The Hidden Forest is a special community, and everyone here has played an important role in making it such a fantastic experience for everyone involved! I wish for the project to have continued success, and I hope to stop by more often in the future. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute and keep up the good work!
