Server Communications?

Does the server, itself, have anything like an irc or vent channel..something for the members of the server to real time chat? The forums are a great way of getting information and otherwise talk, but maybe using something like that (if something like that isn't already in place) could help with communication, or just otherwise alleviate boredom instead of..wait 5 secs...refresh...wait 5 secs...refresh.

Ah okay, there used to be an irc channel but no clue what happened with that. There's no vent or anything for the server itself, but I know Help Desk uses it so maybe we can bug them =p

Oh no, not with Ventrilo as far as setting it up. I've used it, but not set one up. I was going to learn how when I was really into Live, but some health issues arose with me and I never got the chance.

However, since I do have alot of time on my hands usually, if everyone likes the idea, I could research it and see what I can come up with. I"m sure all of the devs and whatnot have alot to do if you all intend to try to plan b it and set up a minilogin.

ok here's the thing...vent doesnt take alot of bandwith to run a 200 person server but it takes more then teamspeak does running a 300 person server... i never understood that but i also know some people have a harder time useing team speak then they do vent. so its kind of a toss up on which one...most ppl like vent over TS thou. this is just my 2 copper

In my old lotro guild we tried team speak until someone footed the bill for ventrillo. We never went back. The quality difference was huge.

Ventrilo is nice and honestly i think a 100person Ventrilo would be ideal for THF at the time, if more people join the server(and actually use vent) then it can be increased, i dont reckon a ventrilo would use up a ton of bandwith imo i mean at least from the client side i always have vent running and i see no difference in speed.
