Striat,
I don't want to derail this thread too much, but I was wondering about something related to this post; How much work are you having to put into the THF source each time you update, and would you consider trying to get them added to the EQEmu SVN to save you time/work when updating?
I don't really know offhand what special custom changes you are making to the source each time, but I would think at least most of them could be added to the SVN if you wanted. Though, if you are adding very specific or very custom code (like changing core systems such as combat) for THF that wouldn't be allowed on the SVN, then this post is probably of little interest to you anyway.
You have been coding around EQEmu for years now, and have done so mostly in private from what I have seen. From code of yours that I have seen in the past, it seems like you do some really nice quality work. It may be possible to get you access to be able to update the SVN with your own account if you wanted. I trust that you know what you are doing and know what would be allowed on the SVN. Normally as long as it is something that other servers might be able to make use of, or as long as it isn't too custom or a hack of some sort, it is fine to be added. Also, it can't break other servers or break certain clients of course.
Of course, if you prefer to keep your custom code private, then you can just disregard this post. I can understand how keeping custom code private can give a server more of an edge over other servers because it has something special. IMO, it is the DB and Scripts that really make servers stand out, which is why I am glad to update the SVN with any changes I make on my own server. Not to mention that it makes keeping current with the SVN a million times easier

I haven't really spoken with you about it before, so I don't know if you keep things private because that is how you prefer it, or if you just do so because it is more of a pain to post code on forums with diffs and such (which is a bit of a pain). I don't know if getting you access to the SVN would even be possible without asking the other devs, but if you wanted it, I would certainly make the suggestion to them to see what they think. It never hurts to add more Devs to the project, and sometimes potential devs may get over-looked for whatever reason. I try to keep an eye on what people do, and make recommendations when I think they are deserved.
I know I certainly love having access to the SVN to make updating as well as adding new fixes/commands/custom stuff very quick and easy. Having to patch code in and test it just to update each time is a pain. Again, I can't guarantee anything as it isn't my decision, but unless KLS or Cavedude have something personal against you, I think it is definitely a possibility.
Back to the topic of this thread:
Yeah, KLS has done quite a bit of work to get Raids ironed out. They still aren't quite perfect, as there are a bunch of little things that need work. Some of the issues I have heard of (but not personally confirmed) are related to:
1. TGB not being able to buff other groups in the raid.
2. Groups getting bugged if a leader drops or if a member drops.
3. Members not in zone (due to death) not getting kill credit/flags.
4. Sometimes certain groups in the raid not getting kill credit/flags.
Also, KLS has recently done a bit more work on Raids/Groups and at least some of that work went in for Rev1384 I think. There may be even more on the Spells branch that hasn't been moved into the trunk just yet. Though, I am betting they won't resolve all of the raid issues unfortunately. If you plan to do work on them, that would be some really handy stuff to have on the SVN, so it might be the extra push to help get you access if you cared to have it.
Sorry if this post comes off as me pushing for you to share your work, as that is not my intentions. If you don't want to put your work on the SVN, the I have no problem at all with that. I just thought I would make a suggestion and see what you thought. The more people share, the better the project gets as a whole, and the more time it saves when updating too. I would have PM'd you about this, but thought maybe Lillu would want to see it as well, in case he would be against sharing any custom server code from THF.
Lillu, I hope you don't see this thread as me trying to steal one of your devs away to work on EQEmu instead! If anything, I think it would benefit your server to have someone on the dev team
