Just to add some rough numbers, the last time I parsed Pelk (Mage, donor bp, donor pet focus aug, donor weapon (utilizing both donor buffs), fully rk2 buffed, elemental fury, donor + deathbringer auras &glad/lion rk3 and rk2 weps) she was at ~180-200k dps, with Druid bp that was up to around 230k iirc possibly slightly higher.

The parse of my own Mage, Spellfire (rk 3 pet with rk2 weps, donor weapon buffs (both), dark minion, fully rk2 buffed, ele fury, donor/deathbringer aura and glad/lion rk3) she was doing around 60k dps iirc. Didn't get a figure with Druid donor bp.

This is already a massive gap, which personally I was happy with because pelk has had a lot of money spent on her. Now with these nerfs (I know, they're due a retune), Spellfires pet was at 19.7k dps without glad/lion but with rk3 pet weps.

I will log on in a bit and run the same test as pre nerd but I doubt I'll see 30k tbh.

Again, I know this is due a retune but I must admit I'm airing on the side of a comment that was posted earlier about this nerf possibly should have been tested on test server first. Something like this, I guarantee people would flock there to give you numbers so we didn't suffer so extremely.
I have no issues with a nerf as t8 pets ARE OP for lower tiers but in t8 I don't feel they are and that is with multiple bots in my crew pushing out 200k+ dps. I just feel an exact nerf would have been better rather than a changin nerf that has pushed a lot of people's noses out of joint slightly.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that Rk3 Enchanter debuffs were used on the T1 dummy too.

Changes live as of today (2/7/14):

Everything that changes is highlighted in Pink

As you can see the changes only effected Rk II and III Tier 8 pets. The obvious intent behind this is to ensure that the Rk I pets (which are tradeable) are not too OP for the lower tiered content. Players in Tier 8 do get an upgrade in their Rk I pet, however the major upgrades come from attaining the no-drop ranks.
Oh the fun you all are going to have in DSK3...

Rk 2 pet dps is still pitiful :?

Void of Death Rk. II - With necro donor 1.0 buff + Dark Minion + VP Clicky buff + Sune buffs = ~13.5k dps average on T1 test dummy.

Void of Death Rk. II - Without donor buff + Dark Minion + With VP Clicky Haste + Sune Buffs = ~6k dps average on T1 test dummy.

When the kids stop being annoying I'll get on and hit the dummy a several times and maybe even make it out of the hall today to attack something.

Why are we using the Epic 1.5 as a baseline?

Aren't there like 8 tiers between T8 and the epic 1.5 (considering the hardest part of the quest is a dragon kill in a lvl 70 xp zone)

The T8 key quest is much harder than the epic 1.5 quest. The T8 pet should be twice as good considering the difference in work it takes to obtain it. I'd rather a change to making the rk 1 no drop than to detract on what it actually takes to obtain a t8 pet especially for the rk2 and rk3 ones.

There should be no comparison between the T8 and epic 1.5 the comparison should be between the donor and the T8 pets since they are really the ones that should have a slight difference between them. The T8 is the best non-donor gear/spells in the game and should be kept as such.

Just my 2 cents

+1 for just making rk1 pets not tradeable.

My real question: is this just in regards to some kind of soon-to-be-released content that will allow us to increase our pets strength via buffs/aas or something? If not, this is a *huge* nerf to rk2/3 pets :( I'm living off speculation here :P

Dynamic of no drop vs. tradeable spells is a pita to account for.
Personally I would rather see stuff as tradeable, it helps spark an economy, even in cases where it lets a new player to the game basically bypass everything.

My solution would be to keep spells as tradeable at Rk. I *BUT* I would throw in some Perl so you can't memorize them until X is met. Could be get flagged to at least DSK or whatever would be considered the baseline to use Rk. I spells.

Either way its a pita, you have content that dev's worked their butts off for being trivialized to a larger degree then expected or players feel nerfed by changes meant to not trivialize content. Balancing the two sucks to be in charge of.

I agree maybe have them scaleable in regards to the tier level the pet owner is geared for.

I understand the issue of characters blowing through lower tier content. However I believe this will push players to do one or more of the following:

1. Buy donor pets
2. Make more mages and necros boxes to make up for lost dps
3. Make players stay on their mains with rk2 and rk 3 spells.

I myself have been on the fence about donor BP pets. I will either buy those or probably lose interest in playing for a while. I can't see myself playing while I now wipe in T2 when I was stuck on CT in T6 prior to the nerf.

This was largely my take on this matter, coming from someone who is currently right around the tier 2.5 range.

Maybe the answer is to turn the t8 spells no trade so that in the future they cannot overpower content. But for the ones currently there, it only makes sense that they will eventually become nontrivial as they advance in tiers. Is it perfect? Probably not. But if the real problem is that tradeable overpowered spells exist, then solve this rather than make a unique spell viable across ~7 tiers.
