i dont remember the avatars being that tough. I'm pretty sure my sk was able to tank them around 6-7k ac with just 2 healers

Argo , I think last time you killed avatar was way before the melee patch , involving all the proccs beeing lowered etc .

I never had much problemes with avatars myself either , even if I got one rounded once with 9k ac hehe.

The armor break changes a lot in this fight.

anyway , avatars aren't meant to be boxed, I think they are designed for atleast 2 group with a backup tank

My nearly 6k AC Pally tank requires two clerics and a shaman full out healing to ensure survival. Even so, a single missed heal will wipe us. They hurt, for sure.

So I'm going to attempt to hijack this thread. Same idea though.

I started off playing here with a friend almost a year and a half ago. We took down all of Ssra, then ToV up to Vulak. We were stuck, and both quit for a while. I came back and got Air access from a friendly guild takng down Fennin to farm up some augs, then went back and I solo boxed (war, cler, shm, monk, bard, nec) all of the progression I could. I went to ST, then went back to kill Vulak, and just recently killed Xegony. I have downed Xygoz and Nexona (pre-revamp) in Veeshan, but have wiped to Silverwing and Hoshkar under enrage percentage. Even if I was to kill these two (and I'm sure I could with a couple more attempts at strat refining), my question is....

What is left for the solo boxer?

I can add more chars and try to take a shot at PD and Fear, but I'm afraid I won't get far in DS even if I was to somehow manage taking out PD and CT. Am I at the end of the line?

Any input is appreciated :) Magelos for the main chars are in my sig, otherwise you can magelo tool the nec and bard.

Edit: My schedule is way too out there for a mainstream guild. I had to retire from raiding on live with a now top 10 guild due to my erratic hours. I wish this was an option, but guilds don't really like when someone doesn't show up for weeks on end ;)

Another thought.. any thoughts on "alternate" access to tier 8? Maybe limit what items/spells/etc are accessible via this alternate access? A man can dream, right?!

IMO the solo content ends with Fear and VP, both zones ARE solo boxable, but tough, Fear especially because of the DT's but adding a 2nd tank to your crew makes it Very doable, CT is just a pita lol.

DS IS doable with a solo crew but not when you first enter. Many guilds of 1 or 2 people have tried, and ended up having to expand the guild or in some cases quit. DS is a tough tough tough tough zone. And its beyond everything else on the server (except t8 now, which might add the entrance quest for it is easy till you get to the end... good god vaion).

its a zone that requires help with others to get the gear that allows you to then box. tho now that some changes to certain exploits within the zone have been made, id almost venture to guess that there are only 3 fights in the zone that are soloable (Zi`thuuli, Redfang, Adrianna, Hatchet).

(note im in no way speaking for vaion when i say whats coming up)

The content past t6 really is not intended to be solo boxed. Fights are too complicated, difficult, and hectic. From some talks ive had with vaion, from what i get out of it, is that hes going for content that requires people to work together.

So yes, i think with when u get t6, you have hit your pinnacle of solo boxing. Now t6 is fun content, and great if your casual. Work on some aug farming for all your toons in air, get them the best you can with what you have access too and slowly work your way into those zones. Fear - hit Dracoliche as much as you can for some early easy kills there (and a nice tank shield if you decide to run a second tank, which i would reccomend pally or SK) loot in VP is ALOT better too tho. Hit Xygoz and Hoshkar alot too. Hosh is simple once you realize whats going on.

Because its not my place to say, or even really comment, ill keep my thoughts regarding t8 to myself. But, i will say again from testing, if you cant kill anything in DS, the trash alone will rip you apart, Vaion got EVIL (well more evil). As is the entrance mob (final boss in quest line) is infiniately harder than Xeru is (final boss of DSK).

If your a solo boxer, and are finding yourself having some trouble ask around, im sure alot of people will be very open about giving some VP strats or at least some good ideas on how to fight bosses. And nexona - even post revamp isnt that bad, the adds just increase overall raid dmg a bit, but still doable with a single tank if you can keep the heals going and focus the adds down fast.

Best of luck!
(and sorry this is a bit convoluted, been drinking all day with friends lol)

Like aabamzen, I'm in the same situation. My work hours are erratic and prevent me from doing any real guild raiding so I'm forced to solo box content on my time. I also was curious as to just how far a solo boxer could get and fellow THF members left me with the impression that T6 was possible with a good amount of effort and work.

With T8 now released and access requiring guild level raiding to complete (namely DSK and the end boss of the access quest), where is this going to leave those of us who solo box?

If Live showed us anything it's that an expansions content became more and more trivial as each new expansion was released, allowing boxers more and more access to previously inaccessible content. However, I'm getting the impression that despite new content on THF being released, solo boxers will continue to remain at T6 due to the lack of access to T7+ or the absence of an actual raid force.

Not sure I'm making any sense here, it's pretty late. I'm just curious if there are any thoughts or plans to cater to those of us who enjoy THF but have lives which limit our ability to raid. It doesn't matter to me if the balance for solo boxers being capable of stepping into T7+ content is some 12+ months off from those of a guild, just so long as it will eventually become possible.

Make sense?

a while ago i was testing a zone for mikuz which was a t6 zone, cant remember name now tbh, but if all those are still in the works theres still a bunch of GoD zones to come, they do a great job of balancing content. Just keep an eye out im sure theres more solo/group content coming soon - theres always something behind the scenes lol.

I've been boxing on the server for over a year, and doing every armour quest, and following progression properly, I managed to get to the end of T6 boxing.

The only mobs that I couldnt box are PD in VP (Too many boxer un-friendly scripts to be able to box easily - thanks THF /bonk) and CT in fear (again not very boxer friendly ae).

The mini dragons in VP are easy once you get your strat down. Hoshkar is actually my favourite dragon to box as it's fun/challenging. Silverwing is probably the hardest of the minis, but once you realise how to do it its just trivial. Fear is easy as long as Death Touch dosent land (Thats what DI and 2nd tank is for).

I've now joined a guild, and I am enjoying it a lot more than boxing, but on the non-raid days its still nice knowing that I can go gear up a toon in any of the T1-T6 zones.

I make boxing easy by having the only toons up close being my tanks. All the rest of my DPS is from rangers/wiz's. I found that having up-close toons (rogues/monks) requires a lot more work than ranged dps, and I seriously lack in boxing skills, so I went the easy route. Also knockback/feign death castig mobs is more frequent in T6 than any other tier.

I manged to box all of this with LDON armour, and a few donor items, but my 2nd warrior is purely non-donor, and managed to tank just as well.

It's a lot more fun raiding with people than boxing the content.

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was forgetting.

I already started working on a paladin as a secondary tank to replace the necro, so we were thinking along the same lines there Bront. My group setup was geared towards pure dps to get kills down within stonewall (and later stonewall+st ring) and I would like the versatility of a second tank now that I don't need to all out burn everything.

If any of the other solo boxers want to get together to take down some T6 end bosses and try to break into T7, feel free to shoot me a tell on Zilahik and I'll bring a crew along. Assuming you can find me online ;)
