The first day I played on THF and discovered the custom content was exciting. But most exciting was probably our first Khasva kill in DSK3. I joined being behind on flagging for DSK3 so was furiously trying to catch up for that and with how limited flags were from the first bosses I managed to catch up and with the bare minimum flagged we started attempts on khasva. Figuring out the little nuances of the fight, and how to avoid our poor tank being turned into goo :D Dealing with script gremlins (hi almost instant depopping adds doing evil things) and when Khasva finally keeled over and gave us loot. It was a big high.

Other than the fact that EQ is the most ultimate form of nostalgia for me...

When I was a new player: stomping through LGuk and CoMist! I spent countless hours on Live camping Frenzied Ghoul, and far too much time killing Reavers/Rak'Ashiir in CoMist. Being able to relive those fights with my own group was awesome and a similar challenge to with a raid group before. Being able to come back and 1 shot those guys with a 70? Priceless!

Most recently: I took a break from playing for a while and came back a few weeks ago. Booted up, logged my toons in, headed to Chardok for some solo aura mat farming, Broken Blades, and heads, oh my! I'm super rusty, trying to remember just what everything does but I make it all the way down to the Library with only minor user error issues. Come across the first "named" guy in there - I'm wary cuz I don't really remember power levels or anything. Set up the fight, have everyone in position aaaaand engage. SHD has aggro, good. Now the dps, good. Man this is cake I'm gonna drop discs and burn this... WTF? In my excitement at things working as intended I forgot that I have both a CLR and SHM and that the SHD just miiiiiight need a heal. My group returned to bind in the Forest and I laughed my arse off.

Best memory was of being dragged, as a quite fresh emu player (8 years on live before I found emu) through content and ended up helping with first server kill of Xegony. and second. Believe "he" was ticked 2 identical spells dropping each time. lol
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2213

also pushed for the Vale token fix and webtools/items.php?id=13098 as an ldon item. was nice to see GM/devs who listened )

Being I started late 2009 (i think) and I came back a few months ago, it was good to see players still around, tho there was certainly some differences. and alot more botters. Prolly makes me an old player ;)

The thing that hasn't changed is Lillu and Vaions (was tyler back then) still put in piles of hard work and imagination to keep things pumping. Well done on 5 years ! :)

The first Christmas event I was a part of there was a lot of competition for the Thief camps. Most of the time you could not find one open and had to wait or ask the person who was camping them to give me a tell when they were leaving. Then when I would finally get one, the thiefs would rip me a new one and I would have to race back to the camp to stake my claim. I eventually found success at kiting two of them and killing the third. Once I got the camp broke I would hold it for a long as I could before I would fall asleep at the keyboard. Finally got a Red Ornament to drop and sold the looting rights for 700k. With that I bought T8 Rk.1 spells which were going for 100k back then. The Mage pet and cleric spells were game changers :-)

There are so many, it's hard to pick just one.

My most "proud" experience so far is probably when I got my first epic 1.5. I was extremely new to the server and was still trying to work out all the kinks in my group of noob toons. I was attempting to bot 6 toons but was horrible at it, but I had managed to complete all of the epic 1.5 steps except for the dragon blood. I wasnt sure I could even beat any of the dragons so the only one I decided to attempt was Naggy. I camped that dragon for days and could never find him up, someone had always beaten me to him. One day I logged on to check and someone had *just* killed him, the corpse was right in front of me and a solo ranger was in the process of porting out. At least now I knew when he might next be up. I set the alarm on my cell phone to wake me at 3am so I could check and bam there he was with no one else there to contest him. I was so nervous I think I was shaking, it was making me laugh at how much enjoyment I got out of this game. It was a long fight with my poorly geared group and a couple of my noob team of 6 didnt make it but I did get the blood and promptly finished my epic.

- Also I remember when I first got my crew of 6 flagged for ToV. I had no clue what to expect from any of the dragons, everything was 100% new. When I downed Lady M she dropped a shiny CoH orb which at the time I had no idea was crazy rare. I also was able to kill Vulak on my first try. I couldnt get to sleep that night I was so pumped full of adrenaline. Now fast forward to today and I've killed Lady M nearly every day since for that dumb orb on different characters and the dumb thing just *does not* drop.

I think my best memories so far have been being able to finally down Xeru after numerous attempts with Manetath last year. God that fight was fun but such a pain to progress on when we didn't know wtf we were doing!
My next best memory was then being able to solo box Xeru with more chars than my old pc could handle! Was so exhilierating being able to nail him on my own after a few wipes learning what I had to do.
Final memory of Xeru (can you tell I loved that fight?!) was being able to solo tank it all rofl.

Another fond memory was being carried on a Chaos kill and then progressing on Chaos with Sosten... good fun!

And tbh, I have fond memories of solo boxing all the bosses I kill for the first time.

As Nil says too, killing Khasva for the first time was an awesome rush. =D

I have recently just started playing on The Hidden Forest server within the last 2-3 months, so my pool of stories is limited. That being said, I do have one story that a few people may get a laugh from.

My first time in VP:

I had just spent the day camping parts of the truth for my crew (4box) and once I wrapped them up, I did the turn in for the key parts and immediately headed to VP to turn in the scrolls (I think I am remembering that right). I zoned into VP and initiated the slaughter of trash. Shortly after, I came face to face with the named Rancor. Needless to say, first time fighting him, he wiped my crew pretty easily. He FD'ed the tank and had killed pets and cleric before I even could switch back to the tank to /stand and get aggro again. But I was determined! I headed back (the add was dead this time) and I pulled him again, this time getting him down to 50ish % before the rapid FD's caught up with me. Then, on the verge of quitting VP for the night, I went back for a third attempt (the charm or so I thought). I end up getting him down to 10%, and just as he enraged, he FD's the tank, turns to the pets and they are wiped almost instantly. I get the tank back up, engage, attempt to get new pets up and while doing so, tank is FD'ed and my crew is dead shortly after, minus the FD'ed tank. With 8% left I say F it, I have another defensive, and my trusty donor shield, I am killing this guy! After a cycle of my defensive disc+wep (I am crying for my lack of DPS and keep getting FD'ed every 10-15 seconds) I get him down to 0%, ahhhh sweet satisfaction of seeing the animation pause (while still being hit) - LOOT IS ABOUT TO RAIN DOWN ON ME!!!!!

<Insert syntax for Killshot goes to Zaknafene, THE LONE WARRIOR here>

Only to be mobbed by a bunch of Drake hatch-lings who somehow spawned from a Rancor dead body.... I cried myself to sleep that night and did not return to even attempt to loot the body.

Anyway, that's my most exciting and painful moment on the server this far. I love the work you guys have done, keep it up!

Cheers!

Back when I was a wee little one, I decided I wanted to try the raid tiers. I had /auctioned to buy a Token of Vulak for a friend and myself when I had received a tell. This person turned out to be a generous soul. I hadn't accumulated much wealth, but I was fully prepared to pay him. I instead received 2 Tokens of Vulak and 10k for absolutely nothing! I hadn't met many server natives as I was a fresh 70, so to meet someone so kind to help me on my way was a wonderful, surprising experience. Now when I help others, I fondly remember that experience :)

That has been a consistent theme here. Good people, always helpful, and always full of surprises.

eq has always been a thrill for me, and it is hard to pin down the most exciting, joyous, or whatever time i have had on this server. so here are several times i remember that always put a smile on my face...

the first time i soloed(well with my bot out!!) Trakanon
getting my epic 2.0
meeting skill and starting <and his amazing friends>
killing any of the bosses in dsk3(mainly the 3 bosses that i told sosten "this is how to do it" and finally 4 or 5 days later we finally try my strategy and win )
posting the 3 or 4 user interfaces i did and people liked them so much that you guys actually hosted them
being able to make a few loadsceens that have been used
and finally (but not the least of all) all the people i have met on this server and have had the good fortune to play with.
