Plane of Hate

I'd really love to see Plane of Hate revamped for THF. Just like Fear, it's a classic raid zone and I'd love to return to hunt there, not just for nostalgia but mainly because it's got a great atmosphere and feels really dark.

For me, the most obvious tier would be raid T7, to accompany DSK; the tier is light on content, with only one raid zone, and the item tables aren't complete. Much like VP and Fear complement each other, DSK and POH would fit really well in both theme and itemisation.

DSK is missing several items, so POH would be a great opportunity to fill the gaps for guilds preparing for T8.

  • Plate, leather, silk and chain legs (off Innoruk/quested from killing him)
  • Arms (any, DSK has none; again, can be the reward for completing the zone, similar to hands/arms slots in Fear)
  • Non-rare wrists (only wrist item in DSK is All/All but is on a rare table)
  • Leather chest item
  • Non-rare piercer
  • Rare bow (slightly better than the DSK bow)
  • An extra set of helms, not ALL/ALL
  • More class specific items (DSK has a few but not for every class - it would be nice to finish the list off so all classes have their own)
  • A table of decent but not overbearingly powerful 8 slot augs (currently, you need to farm slot 8s from VP/POA to fill gaps).
  • A 16 slot weapon aug (currently, there exists only three in the game and two of them are T6, the other is in DSK - so the best you can get is Dark Ball of Energy and Silver Box)
  • A small list of slot 18/17 augs (maybe three max)
  • Arrows that are better than T6 (which seem to be not a great deal better than T4)

There are probably more. Mainly, filling any focus gaps could be done as well (I may be wrong but I think some classes lose out on a focus or two if upgrading fully to DSK items; that may not be the case, though)

Just a thought. There's talk in another thread about Charasis being opened up, too. That would be equally cool; but PoH is one of my favourite old world raid zones, so I'd love to play it again :)

I noticed that the zone Elyse ports you to (Plane of Hate B) is different to the zone I remember (I also see this was an update shortly after SoV expansion; I only did Hate before this). Is the original zone still active and usable? If it is, it could be possible to do similar to DSK and have a sub-tier and final-tier setup. I really prefer the original, so it would be better to have POHB the entry area, with some brand new mini-bosses and T2-access raid mobs, culminating in the final access boss where Innoruuk is in POHB now, then have all the original bosses in the original zone, where they used to be.

Only THF-ified :)

That, or just the original zone on its own, as it has two levels and probably more than enough content once converted.

Oh god....I remember the original PoHate. Breaking into it was such a nightmare back in the day. If the zone gets added....could we perhaps not have that little 'feature'? The raid was a boring one for the most part. Everyone standing at the safe spots on the wall waiting for the pullers/taggers to bring home the bad guys. IIRC the only time we moved from the safe spots was when it was time to do Maestro and Inny.

Whilst that break in was all part of hate's charm back in the day, it was only necessary due to EQ being so harsh. The only reason it was necessary was because the game demanded that you crowd control with extreme care, less the raid wipe. THF isn't designed that way, so it wouldn't be required by default.

That said, most THF custom zones feature zone-in hubs with a safe zone and quest npcs, so I don't see why that wouldn't happen if poh was customized. No zones really need a break in phase, much less a single static camp where every pull requires aoe mez to negotiate the content safely, because the content is better designed for fun (which is why most of us are here :-))

You guys are no fun, breaking into hate was the best part of the zone! That being said, plane if hate raids sound like a great time, esp old hate! I do enjoy new hate aswell though... Maybe make one instanced and one open...

I agree. Was mainly just in the moment of reliving PoHate in my head from many years ago when I posted. My inner teenager was screaming at me "Fuck you, PoHate break-in!!!1!!!". The same memories brought back static camps, safe spots, and boring raids... none of which I've encountered here to date.

I know the guys here do a much better job of designing content and am thankful for it.

RL has been insanely busy as of late - until now. I'll be wrapping up my drawn out Magelo project and putting PoHate on my radar for the next project :shock:
