AFK in THF hub zone.

We plan to implement some script to move AFK players out of the hub zone (mainly THF, not THV or Guild Hall). Please let us know if you got an idea/suggestion how it should work.

Please keep in mind, we don't want to "punish" players so booting them to char select is not an option.

Copy the Bazzar script to Guildhall. Getting adv points for free could work, not punnishing at all but encouraging people to afk in private.

My suggestion is to pick a non custom zone where nothing is agro at all (maybe something like nexus?) and port AFK players there and then just add an Forest porter NPc there so when back from AFk they can go back to THF easily.

An auto tp to guild hall would be fine, with a timer of, say, one hour inactivity.

It's clear that some players like to afk their toons as a display. I personally don't mind this; it adds a little character to the hub, particularly when they've gone to a lot of effort to color coordinate. It's like a showroom for a flash custom car. It's only an issue if it causes overcrowding.

So, the script should trigger only under the following circumstances:

  • There are more than x players in THF zone.
  • The players are too close to any npc
  • The players have been in the zone longer than 1 hour

The script should take priority on players near npcs and perhaps they should be auto removed regardless of the volume of total players.

Add in a 5 minute warning.

Job done. Non-guided players are relocated to the back of the cave (edit: or to a custom afk zone, as suggested above)

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but since I'm unfamiliar, I'll offer it up: would it be possible to bind in the Guild Hall? Alternatively, what if you could "attune" or swap your charm to get a different gate effect like THF THV or GH? Another idea along this same line would be a quest for a clickable Guild Hall gate - something with no stats that is about tier 1 in difficulty so it is attainable for people just getting into the server who choose to box.

I have no clue how viable this would be, but here's another idea: if someone is afk for (5? 10?) minutes in THF they get ported to an empty chamber further in the port in cave. It has one of those one-way walls so people who get ported in can leave when they return. Unless the impetus is to reduce the # of players rather than people AFKing in the middle of everything.

Edit: my idea about the charms was an effort to spread out where people "make home" by making it easier to return to the zones instead of needing to go through THF

Well, I would say port and bind them to HoH ( PoF for non flagged or Skyshrine for lower lvls ) at some spot with a high spawn of mobs.

It's more of a reward than a punishment as they get to lvl back up for FUN!

I like Nilbus idea but I will make some modifications.

After some time without activity (let's say 10 mins for example), prompt a window (like the NPC porter's confirmation) with a timer on it (30 sec for example). If the player hasn't click on the OK button, then port the character to this location, like Nilbus said, Nexus or Plane of Knowledge. With some MQ2, you can counterattack this kind of script.

Fenton's idea is also interesting but maybe, not everyone on the server is guilded.

And, a quest item (like the charm one) with group/raid GH port on it could decrease the people in THF.

True, not everyone is guilded but the ones who aren't really don't create a problem. It's usually the bot armies who are an issue and for obvious reasons...are guilded.

If a group port to GHall happens, could the donor charm of travel get upgraded so the sune that pops gives an option for group port as wel?
