Hail All,
As I read this I cringed at first, but I will explain: On my SK, and a few others, I slogged my way up to T8 the good old fashioned way, and boy was it fun, but also a challenge. There are some drops that just didn't want to fall, and it was maddening at times. Still, I enjoyed the experience.
When I started getting the other voices in my head, meaning creating a host of alts to have more fun in other ways, I gladly purchased tokens for the really rough camps/farms to get flagged. I am VERY thankful for this! While I'm flagged for T9 largely through this system I have not forayed into it much because I'm still developing those same multitude of voices.
However, I agree that the token system, for new-comers to THF, greatly reduces their exploration of the content and severely diminishes their likelihood of staying long-term. Yet, the guilds that want to play as real groups instead of bots may not want to spend the time working with a new player to get them up to speed, so they want to back-flag.
I don't have a perfect solution, but I would say that I trust the Devs to make the best decision for the server. For me, it's the struggle that made EQ so much fun. The stories of hell-levels and naked corpse runs that I could tell, as many could, are the stuff of legends. THF has given back joy and allowed me to see content I never experienced on live, and I'll just adjust to whatever change occurs.
Is there a way to balance the new-player experience versus the drive of the high-end player? I don't know, but I trust you'll find it.
Be well,
