Some questions for the THF gods / community

Hi again!

I promise I am not trying to be a forum Troll :D But I feel like I have come into a great community and have found a home among you all so I feel comfortable getting on the forums and chit chatting with everyone!

I will start by saying that I LOVE this server... really I do, I was so into EQ that it was painful to leave it behind when I did, and now I get to come back and play with you all =) Also, I apologize in advance if any of these questions were already answered, I have read quite a bit of the forums already, but there is a lot out there and I will continue reading them.

Ok so what I am curious about is how far is the planned progression of this server? I do have steam and am considering downloading SoD... I know that they have more expansions than titanium does... anyway, just curious...

Also, how long do you all plan on keeping this server up? If your still here in two, three... five years, I will likely still be here.... trust me on this lol... I really do like it that much...

Question about donater weapons... I have donated for both the Bow and a Sword for my ranger... was planning on donating anyway, but how nice that I got some great gear out of it... Well I was playing the other day and noticed that the swords are not LORE items so I can have one for each hand... thats a bonus I thought, but I was also thinking, they are two identical swords... so my question is: Are there any plans to make one a main hand and one an off hand with each one having unique focus abilities? as an example, I have the Sword of the Pathfinder... this sword has the following effects:

Effect: Fiery Strike V (Combat)
Effect: Vampiric Fire (Focus)
Effect: Call of the Pathfinder (Casting Time: 2 sec)

I plan to donate for another sword for my off hand, but I just thought it would be even better if they didnt have identical effects... (not that I am complaining, but you know... $45 donation for each sword...) ((*Edit* if you implement this, you could make an NPC in the forest for people to turn in and exchange a previously earned weapon for a new offhand))

On the Bazzaar... I played on Firiona Vie roleplay server (not as my NO DROP tags) and had a lot of fun being an active trader... I made over 15 million plat buying items from raid guilds and re-selling them (I personally didnt have time to raid back then so this was the next best thing imo) but what I am curious about is what are the long term plans for the bazaar? I see people are starting to use it more and thats great! I heard rumors, but am curious for some confirmation... certainly not all items should have NO DROP tags removed.... some items should be left for a quest, but just wondering about the plans... (on a note... one possible problem with removing too many NO DROP tags is you sometimes get generous people giving items away freely to newer players and ... imo... what makes this server fun is that while no one item, during your leveling to 70, is overly difficult to earn... there is some effort required to get them and it therefore makes and keeps the climb to 70 fun and engaging. This is one of the Main reasons I decided to make this server my residence.... ((*Edit: Personally I don't know if I would change anything for the climb to 70... imo its just that good already, but if you did start removing NO DROP tags, maybe limit that to lvl 55+ .... or 70+ ? ... just an idea))

Last thing... I didnt notice a facebook page for THF... I know... some people dont like to mix fantasy with reality and I understand that, but I would love to join a THF page on facebook if you guys ever wanted to put one up.

So anyway, I am a very happy THF citizen and hope to be for a very long time... my family and friends (there are 17 of them in total in our guild) are all trying to get me to bring my Rogue back online in WoW... (I was flip flopping with the top dps in our guild and they want me back for that I think lol) but I dont have any interest in that anymore... I told them I was playing EQ again... gave em a link to your forums page... maybe we will see some of them in the (near) future? Well... take it easy and see you on the other side of the login screen :D

About the Donators - what we might put in (notice keyword might ;)) is a general melee usable 1h blunt weapon that is not class specific. Beside that - Donators are as is.

How long the server is running totally undecided. There are no plans to shut them down anytime soon and i believe the amount of Donations finally offset the investing cost and the running cost mostly so Lillu doesn't have to put so much of his own money into this project.

Beside that - enjoy your stay!

I saw that and didnt know what it meant... so I used Google... found it on the Urban Dictionary and it is stated as follows:

tl;dr "too long; didn't read."

Literally translates to: That was too long to read.
Really translates to: I'm too lazy to read the entirety of what you said, but I still want to say something.

Well I guess now I know. :geek: I like your sig by the way... very well done.

I feel this would be a great idea. I wasn't sure I wanted to donate again to get the same sword for my off hand, but I would donate the very day this came out... :D

First of all, I love your avatar!

Server progression: Very good question. THF is relative young, 1 year old, but already achieved a lot. Our (or at least my) vision is quite simply, we are trying to become an enjoyabel yet professional custom everquest emulated server, and becoming as popular as possible. We are really working hard on it. and trust me, you guys don't even see 10% of all the work that is done on the server. ;)
The server, if all goes well, will run for years and hopfully decades. I can't name one reason to ever shut it down. I myself love EQ and love this project from the first second! Important that the server is donation independent. We will never beg for donations and whine about high datacenter costs or whatever. If you enjoy playing here, you have the choice to support the server, but once again, it's optional, and always will be.

The no-drop stuff: Shortly, was discussed in another thread. :p

Last thought, if you or actually any of you guys enjoy playing here, you can help us by telling your friends that we are here. The more will join our community the bigger motivation it gives for the developer team. Playing on our server while having fun is the real recognition of our hard work.

Facebook: soon.. I already started it, I just haven't got the time to set it up completly. :P

I hope this server can go on for another 3+ years

But you never know, Anything can happen.. Could run into like SoA .. Once a amazing server with a high population. Now barely reaches 50+ during its prime hours

THF For Life Yo!

It will never end up like SoA, because these GMs honestly genuinely care about not only the people who play here but what EQ is/was. They aren't using the donations to finance their WoW accounts.

I hope it's always around for people to be able to remember what it was like to be a kid again, and for kids to have a great/safe time! <3 THF Community and the GMs.
