PlayStation Netword Compromised

As some of you may be gamers beyond Eq :?

The recent failure of the playstation network is worse for the users then previously thought. It has been made public by Sony that unauthorized people have accessed and have taken the personnel data of many users. Sony has not yet come clean if this also includes Credit Card information, however they have not ruled it out.

What did they get?

Here is the data that Sony is sure has been compromised if you have a PlayStation Network Account:

Your name
Your address (city, state, and zip)
Country
E-mail address
Birthday
PSN password and login name

"If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained."
- sony

Any members with playstation network accounts should change there passwords at your earliest convenience, and keep an eye on your credit card history that may be linked to your account. That is of course when the PSN comes back on line.

yes Falcore i been following this as i am a long time PS gamer. However i have only heard that Sony is reporting that the issue was not due to hackers it was for updating. But other sites report the hackers. Either way PSN is down and couldnt be at a worse time with the Release of Socom 4, which i bought and beat and still waiting to play on line.
A site today said -- Sony has come out and stated that the PSN will be down "indefinitely" while they're "rebuilding" the service. This is according to the Wall Street Journal and Reuters.

So i dotn see it coming back anytime soon

The second link I have is to Sony's official statement on there own web servers, they state emphatically they were compromised and the information stolen. It was release earlier today, the earlier stories were conjecture. However it is now from the horses mouth so to speak.

As far as I know all the SOE games are down, the SOE website is down, and the entire Sony online gaming world is dark. SOE has been posting "we're working on it" updates daily for a week, but there has been no ETA for uptime.

All the game websites are directing to a security statement, which originally went up May 2 and was last updated May 4.
