But what actually cause the desyncs? I remember when old EQ we could raid with 72 players and not lag or desync.

Is it the fact that there's continuous buffs? Auras? Loading the players and sounds? Text spam? Or a combination of them all?

Or is it just because there are players and our connections cannot keep up with that fact?

It was especially bad when there was 99 players in the zone, including 2 of my toons.

Never had too many issues with the zone even on double xp/godly weekends, maybe a synch issue with here or there if there were too many people sitting at spawn point but not like it is now. The issues for me started around the time the script fixes went in - end of July / early August. Even now with less than 50 characters in the zone, zoning in 13 characters may cause a few (2-5) to go out of synch.
