Make sure you have the correct spells_us.txt file

THF custom spells cause a "blind" effect if you do not have the correct spell file. Being able to still see the UI is a common sign that you are receiving the "blind" effect from improper spell file.

If I do full screen instead of window mode I have the same problems, I just stay in window mode and all is well.

To test his point... Click on your buffs and disable them when your in game. Without any buffs, you should see. I forgot my spell file on my laptop and my toons were rooted. happens
