sad really as some of the spots I use to like have seriously reduced exp gains now.
Hate plowing popular/populated zones when leveling up another character.
Lots of fun zones to get to 60 in but after that the options go down but its still nice once in awhile to go plug mobs in old favorites from live even with terribad xp

What zones? The reward should match the effort. If mobs have half the hp and armor, why should you get the same experience? We want to provide incentive for players to stay on the beaten path (which usually has 3-4 options) and make it just difficult and beneficial enough (difficult but rewarding mini bosses) to encourage grouping, but easy enough to get by when no one is around (easy trash). Old school zones are still an option, but they are not intended to be the best option =P

Dont want best or better options I just want options.
Non custom zones have crap for items and since at this level of my characters I can get them geared I would rather not be destroying everything in any of the custom zones which takes away from less geared players.
I also seek to avoid other people that dont care and just mass pull the whole zone regardless of people being in there.
Minus running into one person yesterday I avoid PLing with others in the zone and instead wander non custom.

Here is an example, Greigs -> Not custom -> Decent hp -> cast spells so hard to level normally and as such I PL -> Exp not as good tbh while PL grouped compared to just exping with outside heals -> Exp rate in the zone is just bad = kinda suck zone to use but if I need only 1 or 2 levels and other zones are populated I use it.

While I understand wanting to promote grouping and using the custom content I feel that slashing the exp in the non custom zones is not a good option. Almost feel forced to use the cookie cutter path because that exp is the "best" for that level range.
Well look at the 55-70 zones. Suck Suck and PoV (lvl 62+) and as I said normal grinding a toon in non custom zones is kinda of meh since each expansion the mobs got more ac and more hp and nifty spells. The custom zone mobs are pretty easy and great exp.

So I see that custom zones have the best exp, a fast respawn rate and weaker mobs then non custom zones and I go "wtf I dont want to level every new alt the exact same way. That stuff is boring."

Hope this rant makes sense.

Grey,

Easy man. This is what we have and this is what we offer. Have you tried suck suck and PoV since changes? Other zones were opened because players had nostalgic or exploration based requests, we provide and maintain 3-4 options for almost every tier and you level fast enough to progress through using only 1 of each. This is above and beyond the norm and you can still exp in sola/scarlet desert and progress to CT or PoH, I've done it and it went pretty quick.

This was not a personal attack on the staff and was a simple observation.
I remember when a couple of the zones people would use to PL got struck down so bad you can still DC zoning in.
Ok the last part was partially a joke but the exp slashed isnt.
WOS zone is an example of a place that needed to be fixed. I know cause I grinded there just like the majority of the people that played when it was insta respawn mega exp.
That type of exp is bad.

Eh this is just a whatever now. You do what you need to do. My opinion is stated and what not.

I underst6and what your sayin grey. I think they are working a path towards having all available zones balanced and with some sort of meaningful loot table. I think we will just have to bare with em as the few devs that are here, seem to be constantly working on content, whether its new solo zones opened with quest/storyline/armor options, to the next raid tier(i cant get to ds yet, and barely into vp,but i sure hope the content is up there when i can. I too would like to roam through memory, pick a place like scarlet desert if the levelrange suitedx me, and hunt there for a change. I guess the next good step is to find that old post about 'what zones youd like to see worked on' and put some ideas on the list. Will be nice to see a tougher (group) zone for each tier, with items balanced for the encounters and such.. sorta geard toward boxers or just for groupin up. Im talkin like 33-55 and 55-70 tiers.. but I think everyone is busy with already important projects. Shrug. I think one day we will see every live zone fixed up.

Actually I think they're saying the opposite. They're happy with the available variety and prefer that the players stick to the path (of least resistance). Hey it's their server and their prerogative, its up to the individual to decide if they like those rules and deal with it accordingly.

I think what's getting missed though is Grey's intentions. By allowing the other unused zones to be comparative in exp gains yet without the custom loot tables, you allow those people with multiple characters/accounts/boxes etc to level additional characters outside of the path the new players will stick to and in so doing, reduce the impact a veteran of the server can have on those same players. By keeping everyone on the same path, you are basically setting up the situation where a geared out level 70 pulls an entire wing in Seb, or most of the zone in PoV and wipes it out in a minute and the new player has to decide if they really want to put up with that.

The problem is that once you have one or more level 70 raiding characters, you can get another one to 70 in a matter of hours and more than likely flagged to the raid level your guild is on and thus any pre-70 gear is for the most part an afterthought and immediately replaced. Hence all of that work done by the devs to create those more difficult group oriented zones at sub 70 levels would really be wasted on anyone that's not brand new to the server and without friends here to help them.
