Bot feedback thread for update

I don't see one here and thought it would be worth starting one to encompass all the new bot problems that don't appear to be class specific.

So, here are my findings so far and I stress this is after, literally, 10 minutes:

  • Bot spawns with negative health [confirmed]
  • Bot attempts to heal itself - sometimes works and sometimes does nothing
  • Occasionally (frequency not yet tested), #bot group attack does nothing. The bot faces the target, perhaps gets hit by it, but doesn't attack [happened once so far]
  • Bot randomly camps for no reason (Has now happened several times, in the middle of a fight - forced to wait full respawn time before bot can be spawned again) - After testing further this seems to happen when the bot gets hit by a mob.
  • Ranger bot (perhaps others too) still often refuses to heal me if I have regeneration spells on. In fact, clicking off the spell still doesn't appear to work (this is worse than it used to be). He just healed me once, at 60% but refused to do so at any other time, even when almost dead in a fight. His healing has an extensive delay to it... waits ages between heals. All very erratic and alot worse than it was pre-patch
  • Addition to above item: Ranger let me die rather than heal me when fighting a ton of greens (so the death was very, very slow). Clicking off regen made him put it back on me! This is when I'm at 40% health... At least before the patch, this made him spam heals on me which actually worked. Ranger bot is definitely worse than before patch

I'll keep adding to the list as I go.

Misc likes / dislikes
*Agro so no summon of bot (heal agro off something and locked me out from summoning bot for the whole bot summon/resummon timer)
*bot respawner timer in shadowed grove when zoning in and bot poofed
*bot report mana lists a percent, i personally like knowing the actual ammount the bot has
*Shm bot no longer casts champion on Ferine Avatar
in fact the shm bot only casts 2 lower level buffs now when before it would give me 4 or 5 decent buffs
*Cant recall if you use to be able to force a bot to equip a item to a slot but if you have something that goes into multiple slots the bot will only accept it into one of them. sucks if you want to replace a crap item in the slot it wont see from the item.

sure I will see more things today to put here.

The last item has always been the case. Just use #bot inventory remove x to remove the item (typically, you will want #bot inventory remove 10 for the bracer, for example).

In addition to my first post, I imagine item 1 and 2 on my list are linked. If the bot has zero hitpoints and gets hit they obviously die and are despawned.

I imagine if the zero hitpoints issue is fixed then the random poofing of bots will disappear as well.

- Can no longer force equip items into specific slots for bots. ie. if an item can go in waist and neck, it will only go into the slot listed last in the stats. (use to be able to use #bot giveitem [slotid] to equip it in a specific slot)
- When zoning with bots, their health resets to negatives
- Beserker bot seems to be landing a ridiculous amount of crippling blows/critical hits per fight (45 second fight and bot did 12 crippling blows)

I strongly suggest adding a #bot completehealme command.

No matter how clever the logic, it'll never know when to best start casting a CH. When should it cast? At 50%? What if the mob is too tough and that's not soon enough? What if it's too easy and it's wasteful to cast CH at all?

Better to hand the logic over to the player. If a player issues the above command the cleric in the group will immediately, or as soon as it is able, cast CH on that player.

If unwilling to add this, it could also be considered to add two modes for clerics (and healers in general):

1) Boss Encounter
2) Normal

The former would set the cleric to only heal CH and to do so as soon as a player begins to lose significant health (more than 25% of total hitpoints, perhaps).

The latter would just perform HOTs and spot heals when required.

The command could be #bot healmode [boss/normal] and the bot would report:

"Preparing for a boss encounter" or "Reverting to normal healing mode".

  • Tested a pally bot at level 1. It just stood there taunting the orc, with zero health, permanently healing and taunting but not hitting at all.
  • New: Bots heal enemy targets. Confirmed from more than one source.

This was one of striat's custom changes. Probably wasn't included.

Well, I think I've reported about everything I've found so far; the core issues are logged above.

It's incredibly frustrating to play at the moment, even just when trying to test things (mainly because you have to wait 3 minutes on a regular basis after the bot disappears randomly), so I'm going to stop playing until the fixes are implemented or the changes are rolled back.

In my time testing and playing today I've made 18 levels (with my new cleric, from 1-18), all of which were slow and frustrating, in the time I'd normally make about 35+. Besides that I've died a few times trying to play with my mains and the bot, making it only a few minutes into any dungeon I choose to explore because of random abandonment :)

So I think I've taken enough punishment for now and I'll just hope the fixes can come in soon :)

One problem I was running into was while working on the 1.5. During the massive zoning I was doing running around about 50% of the time the bot wouldnt zone with me, about 10 seconds after finishing zoning in the zone and or client would crash. I was able to reproduce but Im not sure if it was my client or the zone. This happened in mistmoore, butcherblock, and sro.

P.S. I was working on quests with my old man, different computer - same network, and it would crash him also. The three zones listed are what I can remember, pretty positive it happened in Lfay also.
