PoAir Trash

Post#1 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:15 pm

PoAir is a zone that requires flagging to be able to zone in... it is also 3 tiers above ToV.
===============================
Let's take a look at 2 examples of trash mobs:

PoAir (near zone-in): A Castellan of Air (Level 68)
Health Points : 200000
Damages : 2500 to 4000
Special attacks : Summon, Quadruple Attack, Unstunable, Unfearable

ToV (hub): an emerald watcher (Level 71)
Race : Drake
Health Points : 105000
Damages : 1200 to 3200
Special attacks : Summon, Triple Attack, Unmezzable, Uncharmable, Unstunable, Unfearable, Immune to fleeing
================================

Shouldn't PoAir mobs be higher level since they have more HP & much higher damage output? I know on Live there are similar examples like this... but I always thought it made little sense. Harder hitting mobs with more HP should also con higher... right?

I can't coment specificaly on this issue, but overall, the toughness of mob is not nesesarily related to its level.

A mob could be low level yeat have so much hp,ac and hit so hard, that won't really matter if its green :mrgreen:
A high level red con, could on other hand be a total wuss.

Thye only thing that LEVEL affects is the modifier to mobs resist, and melee skills like dodge, and offence. If mob is 30 levels above you, you won't be able to hit it, even if it has AC of 0. At same time for each level its higher than you, its base resists get a massive bonus.

So formula tougher mob= higher level is not nessesarily true

I see your point.

Would you be able to say though that PoAir trash mobs give higher AA/xp rate than higher level ToV trash? Just wondering if it's the same xp bonus like in Live (PoP era), elementals had the highest yielding xp rate, even though mobs there were lower level than some in the older zones.

You have to remember the Castellans are the easiest mobs in POAir. Once you kill the Castellan 1 to 4 Vengeful AirSpirits spawn that are part of the fight. So comparing the base Castellan against the ToV drakes isn't really accurate.

I can easily kill 3 or 4 tov drakes per pull without a cleric. I cannot do the same in POAir.

I'd have to do some testing, but it felt like I was getting good exp in PoAir

This was actually an issue on live for a long time. Once you have gotten geared up, the mobs in Fire offer the best exp since they are not that bad to fight, but most are yellow and red cons. Since the amount of experience you gain is based on the level of the mob rather than the difficulty, you can do some serious experience in Fire and ToV.

Of course this is a "careful what you wish for" situation. The Air mobs are hard enough as it is, increasing their level in order to make it better experience would be a mistake IMO since that would make them harder to kill.

** Discalimer ** I am assuming that the same formula as live is being used to calculated exp per mob with a 3x modifier.

I think by the time you are in Air, EXP shouldn't be a concern.

I assume that it was decent EXP, but then again I dunno how long I had been sitting on my AAs... I just looked at my monk and said, oh hey, I have 35 pts to spend now.

On Live (pop-era), PoFire had the best xp per kill, I personally camped at the Jopal island for a couple of months just to get the rare warrior swarm pet sword (boxing wasn't the trend back then). But PoEarth had the easiest access (you can kill/pull at ZI) without annoying roamers, etc so that's where I grinded exp.

I still think that the harder the mobs are in a level-70 zone (more damage, higher hp), the more exp they should yield (irregardless of mob level)... it makes logical sense. If increasing the mob level is the way to go so the exp yield is in line with other zones, then their potential damage output has to be toned down a little bit to compensate (for example, instead of the Castellan mob quading, it can be changed to triple atk) so that even with a 5 level increase (bringing them up to 73), they can only hit you (per round; max) with the same quad attack total damage (per round) as they would if they were level 68... this would even be considered as a "buff" to the mob since they will be harder to hit & higher resists at level 73.
