In the Raid options there is a place that says loot Click that to Everyone. I have never had a problem with looting set that way even after deaths and zoning. As long as there is no bots in groups. As for the exp i dont know but there is some setting for exp. in there but i haven't done anything with it before
I do like the raid function, and which it was me stable I have always thought it was a great tool, Specially in live when you could raid with several guilds at once easy communication if they not all in guild,
Well i agree on live it was kinda needed but here its more Guild specific raids so a extra communication channel isn't realy needed and before they added the raid function you could add and use a password protected chat channel.

The Npc that spawns from the final boss that everyone can hail (even chars that wasn't online or not in zone) is only required for progression.
Killing credit is mostly only needed for Achievements, the only Quest that you maybe can consider pre DS as quest that need kill credit is the 2.0 one and that can be done easy with 1 group.
