Paladin DPS

Just a question. Is paladin DPS supposed to be this low?
After parsing with my un-auged 2.0 this is what I came up with.
non-undead mobs in ice well - 579.1
undead mobs in Ssra (with all the slay undead AA) - 2102

incidently this DPS with and un-auged 2.0 is slightly higher than with the paladin donator with the Plane of Air type 30 Aug.

This test was done with Forest Buffs and the Clicks from donator and 2.0
I can provied parse results if a dev would like to review them.
(ie. i have not figured out how to export them yet.)

The Damage VS Undead seems fine but the non-undead seems low to me.

Please do 2 parses of 180 seconds, 3 minutes, against Vlan (he is a zombie, but not flagged undead):

  • With only Sune buffs.
  • With Sune buffs + applicable discs

This is our base line we are using. I am not in charge of changes, nor do I promise there would be one, but this would give the dev in charge of this area a better perspective with which to work.

Are we still needing some parses? I could provide a few... but my paladin isn't raid geared or anything, but I would be willing to parse. As I think Paladin DPS does need to be looked it... it's absolutely terrible... just their DPS being so terrible is reason enough to play a warrior. As a paladin, if you want to kill something remotely challenging, you may as well go ahead and plan on boxing some DPS. Where as, I have watched similarly geared warriors kill 2-3 mobs before I could kill 1.

Just let me know if their is something I can do... "Makers" is my Paladin, if you need to look at his gear or something.

Best if someone with 2.0 or better and full offensive AAs could parse for better comparison. Thanks for the offer though.

Tradtionally, if War was doing 100% DPS, i think PAL/SK were doing around something like 80%.

Traditionally pallys have never done much in the way of DPS(with the exception of undead of course). On live after cleric got the proc buffs I'm pretty sure even they could outdps them to be honest /grin. Not intended as a flame post on pallies btw. Personally I think it's due to the fact that pallies hold agro with no/low dmg stuns. If you want a knight with dps, make a SK. :)

Pallies also get a fair number of abilities that offset their dps, namely their survivability. While their heals aren't as good as clerics they are obviously good enough or so many people wouldn't use them as bot healers. They get a rez, a huge 0 mana heal, pacis for pulling... I could probably list more but I've never bothered to play a pally to high end.

Oh sure, they get utility... but as you progress their heals become pretty obsolete a 2K heal, against a mob that's hitting for 3K+ isn't exactly something to brag about. LoH isn't useable but basically once an hour, paci is easily accomplished with a bot, and since everyone can box... it kind of ruins all the bonuses of being a pally.

If we were forced to only play one character with no bots... then yes, the paladin utility would be worth something, but on a server like this... their's really no point to play a paladin. I just think something should be done to make paladin a viable class over Warriors and SK's, because as it stands... their's basically no reason to be one when you compare them to warriors and SK's with a bot or box.

Leveling from 1-70, their heals are useful.. as it allows you to use a bot that isn't a healer, but once you hit 70, and start advancing... their heals can't possibly keep up, and you have to start botting a cleric, or boxing a healer, not to mention everything is pretty much immune to stun, and at that point, you may as well have been a warrior or SK.

In the atmosphere that THF provides for us, they are by far the "worst" choice for a PC Tank, and I just wish we could come up with something to improve them so that they are viable.
