If you played EQOA : Everquest Online Adventures on the PS2 they use the los thing on their but you can hide behind things so the AoE doesnt hit you. Means you gotta keep popping out healing than going back.....

Only diffrence is you can cast while running and it wont interupt.

Thats a big difference!

Mechanic wise you would really ahve to tweak EVERYTHING if you were to remove Healing without LoS. Honestly its a mechanic that has been around since day one, and if we were to have that change, then EVERYTHING else would have to change as well.

Personally i think things should stay as is. As annoying as mobs healing through walls can be - its really just something that we have gotten used too and really doesnt constitute the need for a change.

would be nice to not have NPC's healing through walls but would really mess up raids.
Would not like to see this change as it would make things a lot harder for the players on the server if they had to focus so much effort onto healing classes.
Not everyone has 2 or 3 computers they play on and they have to tab screens.

First: I have nothing bad with your comment, indeed: your comment has everything I would like to respond, so take it as no offense.

Second: as developer I want suggestions and good communication, so noone gets into the wrong side of the dick. I do NOT say that LOS will be implemented, I only want to hear oppinions and to know other's thoughts about this theme. So take these NOT as development plan.

So to spook it out finally:
I would like to implement LOS for healing for mobs for sure, but since it has to be fair trade, it would make me think that I should implement it for players as well. Problem is that creatures do AE and PBA damage, I am not having too much knowledge, since I rarely come to play (simple: no time).
My guess is that the time between two AE/PBA attack is too short for a complete heal or too strong for the healers to live it 2+ times or would totally consume the healer's mana. Some peeps dual+ box, so alt-tabbing between characters, this takes time, what would be highly valued if LOS would be implemented.
Ok, so the "what if" section: was thinking about if shortening the complete heals cast time would help? That would make you be able to run out of hide then cast, then run back - would break a CHLine tho' (if there is a CHLine tactics anymore). Even if this would help it would be problem for some to alt tab - would perhaps make you to get more actually "living" players into the group and not say we dont need someone in a guild because we already have such alts like zillions of them. Would perhaps better spot healers help (druids, paladins, etc?) while healers are out in AE (should remove silence, and lower damage tho'?). Would perhaps modifying the healing help like: linking the priest's mana, who gets stunned in a safe spot, but drained, but out of LOS but in range healing the tank, like an odd health/regen battery? This would even make you able to care less for your healer alts, because they do not need a click, since they are constantly "concentrating".

I heard suggestions to leave things this way as now works, but I would like to hear novell ideas about if you would want to change something like this, how would you do that?

Hmm well for the most part the majority of people play 3-5 characters each (average) so having to spend even more time on the healer cuts down on being productive on the tank/dps characters.
Not many people enjoy only playing a healer and a lot of armor upgrades are better spent on warrior/paladin/shadowknight/bard before the cleric or Rogue/ranger/Zerker before the shaman.
Shortening most heals would actually hurt to be honost. Cleric spell haste brings my big heal down to 1.8 or 1.9 cast time but to move I have to wait a second or two to make sure my next spell is not interrupted and the stuff I am fighting does hit pretty hard.
Hits hard enough that I do not believe I could move the cleric and keep my tank alive.
From a player point of view I see how many encounters would need to be changed.
Sure it would be nice to have more people in the guild but there simply is not enough people who are online at the same times and/or are geared near enough.
If this was to just happen right now it could lead to several guilds merging or mass recruiting whomever they could get.
This would cause a two part effect, the lower tiered players would be pushed through content (I really hated this on EZ how you could go from zero to hero in about two days of hard play) and the higher tiered players would have to spend a fair amount of time to back gear the weaker players.
This just leads to unhappy players.

Ok now you wanted suggestions.. I really do not want to go into rebalancing content as that is something for another thread.
Effects:
KMRA just posted about updating to the latest SVN and claims that time based effects work now. I am thinking about the heal 'buff' which after a set time goes off and heals the player it was cast on. Live it was 18 seconds I believe, this could work here on a reduced timer but it takes up a buffslot and is subject to being dispelled.
Shards of dalaya as much as I dislike the server had something kind of nice, they tweaked one of the AA abilities for caster classes to be "soulbound" where buffs would stay on you if you died and I cant recall but I do not believe they could be dispelled. In fact I know they could not be.
So maybe each healer class could get a line of heals such as the following.
Heal XXX - 1.5 second cast time - 3.0 second recast - 6 second buff duration unable to be dispelled or clicked off - On wearing off triggers heal on target for X points of damage.
Could also have a single target version with a AE heal range.

I am really tired so I need to think on this if I am to suggest more then this.

**One last thing before I take a nap. If NOTHING dispelled it would be one hell of a lot easier to work with. Just reduce the mana cost on heals.**

Decision about this: this rule will not change, creatures will keep healing over walls and stairs.
