On live I was by no means a top end mage or a huge raider but on the targets I did get in on I was up there on parses even when my pet poofed early on. Other mages made it on the parses and sometimes even topped them. I have noticed that mages are typically pretty slacktastic about getting in there and really pushing their dps. Sic pet, nuke once or twice and relax and watch everyone else work seems to be the norm (not all but some :(). No one has seen mages in a good spot on parses? Are the mages you have had with you slacktastic or is the class just not ever going to get there even played hard?

Don't let Kron scare you away from Mages! When I used to play, I'd top the DPS Charts unless there was a donor ranger in the raid -- even then that was because we were doing a Tier 3 raid when donor weapons were tuned for T7.

Mages can be great DPS on raids if you gear yourself properly and get the proper LDoN spells. They're also great because of their short cast CoTH. You can coth 4 people before someone with an orb summons 1! Gogo mages.

I do have one complaint though, and that's with the LDoN heal. As Bresham stated above, you can heal your pet for 8k with it. The problem is that it's 10 second cast...that KILLS your dps if you have to stop nuking for 10 seconds just to heal a meager 8k (which will probably be doubled in dmg when the next rampage hits). Mage pets have great survivability yes, but they do need heals nonetheless. I'd recommend getting put in a group with some melee DPS who will be getting group heals, as your pet benefits from them as well.

Monks take heals away from tanks, unless obviously youve got 10 clerics or some other stupid amount of players...

i think ultimately this depends on the guild, after talking wtih Grey in length this morning regarding monks, if you ahve the spare healers (as we often do, well not as often as id LIKE but i think more so than most guilds) they are a great addition to any raid - its true tho that any class which takes heals away form tanks when healing is already tight can definately be a problem.

Shattered i believe is unique in many cases due to our ability to field 9-15 real players during each of our raids, this gives us the options of opening up alot of classes that would otherwise be seen as a drain on heals, so in our situation for sure i gladly welcome a solid monk or two into our ranks (as we currently have).

Also i would listen to Zilar about anything mage related he may be our monthly mage (btw u havent logged on yet in November zil) He keeps up to date with the changes and would be one of the leading sources on anything mage IMO. He knows his stuff thats for sure.

Eh I think monks are fine.
Was off tanking vp trash with mine and died the usual number of times.
Really get life taps, use FD and its all good.
However I have clicky hot and my usual group has 16 or 18 lifetaps which generally keeps me alive. If thats not enough my cleric is already using 2.0, doner and padding with the small Gheal.
Now its those silly beastlords you should look out for!

Kandiie i'd have to say your mage dps is pretty good, on top of that you bring utility such as off tanking and CoH and high dmg DS that other dps classes cant do. You don't slack when it comes to dpsing on the mages like many many mages i have seen before. You are one of the few (which has always surprised me that more people dont do this) that will use rains in combo with nukes. This really brings out the dps potential that many fail to utilize with a mage.

If you enjoy your mage id say stick with it. They seem to be fine dps and your pet isnt much if any drain on heals.

Though your ranger may be able to put our more raw dps i dont think it would bring as much to the group as the mage does. just my 2 cents. in the end i always say play what ya like =)

I think thats the point it really depends on how many players you have. Fusion on had around 4-5 players on at a time so it was a drain for us to keep healing monks. We had Omlee in our guild once and i remembered he couldnt even participate against Dread as rampage was raping his ass.

I am sad not seeing wizards on top with rogues and zerkers T5+ Boss where they should be. It needs Some more tunning :)
/hug Tyler

ps: i think every tiers Added since class balance should have a new version of higher nuke spell (same mana/more dmg) to compensate weapon ratio, procs and stuff/augs which increase melee dps.
PS2: this thread is much more based on players feelings than hours of truly parses also (except the Nice 9k on zerks)
edit: removed double neg grammar form.

haha yea I understand that Kron I just love my monk so much more then I could ever consider something silly like grouping a rogue *cough felibar cough* :D
Wizards are pretty beast dps but it requires so much to make it such.
I would never turn one away but it helps to have a bard + druid around to group(raid) with / buff them, and in "help" I mean "required" or the dps while eye candy is really lacking at pleasing my sweet tooth.

Did run parses and my brand new Ranger (Masoomi) with about 70aa poair bow+aug + fear arrows was pushing 3809DPS with sune buffs + 2x ranger buffs + bard songs and used 2.0 click. Did several runs in a row at 120sec just to get a quick baseline before I gained more aa / gear. Would love to say "gained better weapon" but there is like 3 bows in the game so yea. Get a VP helm a few more aa and umm .... afk some more!

Monk dps in same time, buff and song setup was 8765 first run and 9024 second.

Hey! I kill stuff at a decent rate. I just like to be healed and refuse to max melee range!

Let me give you my two cents which is probably worth alot more PP

Monks - they rock, i dont know about months ago as far as high end but I can tell you right now Angrylizard (our top guild monk) requires very little healing and can out dps everyone but Zerkers and Rogs, however it requires the person to actually play him as you need to use your flykick, clickies ect. If you are not afk dps on a monk and decently geared you will be fine.

Zerkers - our Zerker Koogster is close to the top end as far as gear maybe the best geared on the server and he would just out dps EVERYONE on our raids, it wasnt even close on faster fights. I don't know if the other Zerkers knew what discs to use or if they had to proper clickies but I assure you Koogster could out dps most toons equal gear. Only rogs give him a run for his money.

Rangers - my Ranger Quasar does outstanding dps for an afk type of dps however he is always below the Zerker, in fact not even that close however we dont have to worry about ramp or really switching to his screen even once he is set so he has his advantages.

Warriors - We are great dps however I never out parse the dps toons and I am very well geared as far as weapons and augs go. The only time I out dps the dps toons is when they are afk playing healers ect. If we all burn something I dont even get close to them. However I have my advantage of good dps and can take a beating so it all works out.

Our guild has no robes so I cant tell you about them however from what I hear both Wizards and Necros are very nice dps, on par with Rogs and Zerkers. I have no clue about mages though.
