Dreadspire T2 Crashing

Can we get a status update on fixing the constant crashing in Tier 2 of Dreadspire? I mean seriously. It's EVERY raid that we're halfway through an event with Visath or Hatchet or any boss for that matter, and the damn zone goes down. It's every raid and it's at least once if not twice per night. It costs another 20-30 minutes getting everyone back in, set up and ready to try it again - and that's if we don't lose a third of the raid force to frustration and them simply camping out. Obviously you're spending time tuning Tier 8....but DS T2 is riddled with bugs. Is the zone finished or not? Is it the number of players? If so, say so. If not - can you fix it? I realize this is a donation-based, volunteer- based project. However this isn't a trivial bug - it's making the zone not a viable raid option when we know that anytime during the raid it's GOING to crash without a doubt. DS Tier 1 never does this - it's very stable. Personally, as one of the many supporters of THF, I don't think asking you to be up front with straight answers about this is too much to ask. Where do we stand on this? Is it going to be fixed? Are the numbers a problem (20-26) and if so....why isn't it a problem in T1? What can WE do to help? Obviously I want folks to stick with the server for the long haul - but it's extremely frustrating when one of the last two raid zones isn't even stable enough to finish half the bosses.

I do love playing on THF - I and many others are just frustrated and discouraged. How many more times are folks going to want to clear DS T1 and backflag before we're just too discouraged to log on?

I agree! Vaion stop fixing exploits, making new content, trying to track down rumors of exploits/hacks, and adding support for new features! Fix this already! sheesh!

/sarcasm off...

I am working on it. I know its frustrating. The thing to remember is when i scripted DS my coding abilities were decent, but nothing compared to what I am capable of doing now. Tier 8 has a ton of features that I want to push into DS to improve the stability of the zone. Do I think it has anything to do with the number of clients in the zone? no, not really.

I just finished the last bit of the Tier 1 optimizations and am uploading them to live right now. If you want to help, log in, raid Tier 1 (boring yes i know) and give me feedback on what does and doesn't work. The more reports I get back on this, the easier it will be to get the small kinks figured out and push the fixes to Tier 2.

All I ever ask for is patience. Realize that there is a LOT more going on behind the scenes that I have to help take care of (Major exploits/dupe hacks/bot exploits etc) and sadly some of them take priority over getting my other fixes out.
Oh the fun you all are going to have in DSK3...

Thank for taking the time to respond Vaion.

That was frustration speaking - and now that I've had a chance to get the frustration off my chest, I know that I speak for scores of others as well when I say thank you for putting the hours of work into the content, bug fixes, enhancements, etc into the game. It's just been frustrating in the last couple of weeks as I see folks not logging on or getting discouraged. However...all things being equal - a project of this scope does take serious man-hours and resources and I for one would be very sad to see it go away, if it did. I know you, Lillu and others work hard on those things you mentioned - and I'm thankful you do. I think more than anything I needed to vent some frustration - and it's done. Since the Reaper fight was changed after we did it once (unless I'm mistaken) and the continuous DS T2 changes, it's been discouraging not knowing how to move forward with progression. If I came across as ungrateful and unappreciative - it's not intentional - it's just frustrating. It is easy to forget what you guys do behind the scenes - thanks for doing it. I for one will try to be a little more patient in the meantime.

Thanks again.

Thanks Vaion! Its sometimes easy to lose sight of the fact that this server is run and coded by a few individuals and not a mega corporation with dozens of code monkeys chained in their cubicles. Our experience has been that T1 is very stable. I cant recall it crashing in the last few months. T2 is due for some optimization though.

well that is good to hear. We have tried everything to reduce crashing in there including:
limiting the raid to 3 groups
resetting the zone after every kill
prayer
sacrificing all the rangers to the lag gods
not using AoE clicks and spells etc

if you need logs or help from us, we'd be happy to lend a hand

My guild and I had issues with T1 dreadspire. I figured it would be ok to lump it up into this post...

Issue #1: Koritz the Bridge Keeper would despawn after going to 80%ish (like he's supposed to) but would always respawn back on the bridge and would never go into the next phase of the fight. We tried engaging a few different ways, including fighting him on the bridge... where he just kept respawning and re-aggroing until we eventually just left him alone.

Issue #2: we killed Zi'thuuli on the way to Koritz, and he respawned faster than the trash did. If i had to put a timer on the kill we did & the time he respawned, probably about 1 hour after we killed him.

Any help regarding these issues would be greatly appreciated!

Vaion is tinkering with the t1 code atm, so there is some strange magic afoot. We got 2 redfangs up at the same time tonight.

lokknar tells the guild: which redfang do you want to tank? left or right? LOL

we had the same problem with kortiz as well. Vaion is on the case however and im sure it will get fixed soon.

They will probably be fixed tomorrow morning. Tried to get up this morning prior to work, but the kids decided to keep me up most of the night so I slept in :/

I'm pretty sure I have Thuuli fixed and working properly.
The double redfang was a flaw in the system I'm sure, cause there is no way the script can spawn 2x, so was prolly just a one time flaw.

For koritz, I've got to look into him a bit more. Pretty sure I know what the issue, but I need to play with it a bit.

Thanks for the input.

Vaion, if the kids are bothering you, take them to Walmart. They take back anything in the return section. =D

Seriously tho. Thanks for looking into the DS problems and thank for all the other cool stuff you do.
