Mage Pets and Boxing

Hi all - fairly new to MQ2 and a few nights ago I was trying to do ToV, sort of as a test run. A problem I ran into around the Keeper boss in ToV west where I was trying to pull mobs out of the room but my mage pet would just go all gungho and aggro the boss after the one I just killed. Does this have to do with mq2 melee? I ended up dying a ton because my pet would pull more than I could handle. I tried spamming pet hold but it would always go and attack something right after.

Has anyone else ran into this issue and how did they fix it?

Pet hold should just be hit once, the trick is the minute you tell it to attack a new add, that hold is forgotten and it will run back at whatever it's pissed at (usually from an ae). best bet with Lenidaria is to keep the pet back around the corner out of LOS, then pull back with another class (say your SK) then destroy the add.

I use a couple different hotkeys to control my pet
a guard/hold button good to use when a mob enrages @ 20%/15%hp

L1:#bot group guard
L2:/pet guard
L3:/pet hold

and a modified pet attack button, allows you to better control your pet. u can target yourself and hit this button to pull pet back, or you can use it to change your pet's target w/ a single button.

L1:#bot group attack
L2:/pet back off
L3:/pause 1, /pet attack

I fixed this issue by putting in pet back off in after pet hold, and before pet attack, pet back off. That way the pet will attack or not attack when, where, and how I want it.

If you're ever in doubt, put in more back off commands.

example:

Code: Select all

/multiline ; /pet back off ; /pet hold

I'll try that when I get an opportunity. Thank you for your response! This goes for the rest of you as well.
