Now that the test code is up and running. Ran same test as before
worked exactly as intended.
/pet focus
/pet hold
target vlad
/pet attack
target ct
/pet attack (switches to CT)
target vlar
/pet attack (switches)
/pet back off
pet returns to my side

So switching is working great, ignoring agro on the other hand might still need a run through.

I zoned into ssra, /pet focus and /pet hold (both stated they were then on)
ran into a pack of snakes, in theory pet should have chilled and waited for me to tell it to attack before smacking the snakes, but he just ate them right away.

tried doing /pet back off, thinking it will clear the list and he will properly ignore the snakes beating on me, but he didn't.

Ill look at the code and see what it up. In theory the pet shouldn't attack unless given te order but its possible I missed a check where pets auto aggro on npcs that attack thee owners. Shouldn't be hard to locate and remedy.

Keep the feedback coming :)

UF client in PoFire

/pet focus on
combined with /pet hold works. The pet will switch to and maintain any target I tell it to attack, even with 5 mobs beating on his back.

/pet hold no longer works as it once did (to confirm Nilbus's claim). With the pet holding until given an attack, he will stop attacking but immediately re-attack anything that strikes his master.

If I may make a request while you're tinkering: give /pet hold a toggle [on/off] just like you did with focus, instead of alternating on/off with each command issued. If not that then restoring it to the way it was before would be my request.

I would love to toggle both /pet focus and /pet hold ON just once (per zone) and not have to think about it again. I'd ideally issue attacks from that point, never having to worry about them attacking anything I didn't tell them explicitly to attack.

Anyway it's coming along great, thanks for working on this!

There is no way for me to make a new pet command like /pet hold on/off. The code only supports /pet hold. Before, when you used /pet hold it would always turn it on, even if it was already on. What I did was simply make it check to see if the pet was already in a held state, and if it was, then to turn the held state off.

The reasoning behind it was so that players who wanted to have /focus on but /hold off could have their pets set like that.

The only reason that UF clients get the option for /pet focus, /pet focus on and /pet focus off, is because the support for the commands is already available in the client itself. /pet focus on/off is the native way that most players on live use the command. /pet focus is the data that is sent when the client uses the UF pet window command boxes.

Update /pet hold:
1) Pets with /pet hold turned on will now properly ignore their master's hatelist until given an order to attack.

Additional update:
1) SoD now functions with the new pet commands.

If anyone has the SoF client and wouldn't mind logging into the test and just verifying that you can use the commands. All you have to do is /pet focus and /pet no cast and make sure that you get the correct responses.

My SoF copy is acting up and is not letting me past the login screen for some reason or another /sigh.

This sounds like a great implementation! I can't stand how stupid the pets get sometimes and never seems to really follow orders; which tends to get them needlessly killed often and usually causes complications for your party.

However, reading the update on the main page of the forum, and then following the link to here, I am now assuming that this will only be applied to "pet class" [i.e. BST, MAG, NEC, DRU, ENC, SK, SHM] characters and not universally since it seems to ultimately falls under an AA target ability?

Therefore, I am guessing that it will NOT affect non-pet classes with the Wall of Slaughter quest pets? Or will it work the same for WoS pets?

Also if this were implemented universally, not only would it make pets more efficient, but wouldn't this idea also prevent afk killing with pets? Since the pet will not attack unless commanded by a key press?

I usually just set my pets to "guard" the moment I zone into a zone I plan to fight in, this way they take a moment to get into battles [running from zone in and back for each encounter] and usually I have dispatched trash mobs before they arrive, as well as already have maintained aggro on bosses. It is inconvenient but seems to work better than have them on follow; where they tend to mindlessly jump into every fight and take massive amounts of unnecessary damage. Which often places healers into a massive mana loss [especially in bot duo scenarios] healing the pets at the start of each fight, before the tank has aggro, most commonly when the mob aggro's the tank before intended initiation of a fight.

I don't want my pet rushing needlessly headlong into every fight, but with a main that's a PAL, and primary alts being WAR, MNK, ROG, and WIZ... I am guessing that this still will not apply to any of my commonly used characters anyway...

same scenario for pet hold earlier in ssra
worked like a charm this time, pet shined his shoes while I was getting beat on
then after /pet attack killed just the one snake, went back to playing rock paper scissors until new /pet attack was issued.

/pet no cast verified working as well
while it was on no spells were cast, even procs (which kind of surprised me)
/pet no cast again and he started proccing/casting

V, is there anything else specific you need tested on SoD?

I know way too much random stuff.

Correct. The ability to use these commands require you to have the pet discipline AAs. Right now it will remain limited to the actual pet classes since they are defining abilities in pet management.
