Are there mage pet focus items in the game and if so, do they work on the rk1 pet?

Yes lots. Yes they will affect your Rk. I pet and all pets you summon (except for maybe swarm pets).

If you use the alla clone: webtools/items.php and enter "minion" into the 'With effect' input you'll see all items with pet foci.

Thanks! I'm guessing that the relevant part for which focus effects are stronger is the "pet power" level? And that higher is better?

Yup. I forgot which ones were the first but I think the last ones are :
true < ancient < dark < immortal (donor)

Does anyone know if pet focus effects work on pets summoned from click items like the necro and mage donor BPs?

They should work on item clicked pets, they worked for sure on the mage 1.5 and 2.0 clicks, and it glows when the pet is summoned by the robe.

seems like a good hp boost, small atk and ac boosts, but definitely changed

What would be the first pet focus item a new player to the server should attempt to get?

you can get minion of eternity from an aug drop in povalor "Augmentation of True Order" that's pretty early dont know if there is anything before that
