[MODIFIED] Frusteration with 2.0

I have consistently checked a few times a day for either Melalafen to be up or any of the dragons which will drop pieces. They always seem to be down. It has been quite... frustrating to say the least.

The question, since we are now moving toward the 3.x epics as well as tier 9 do the parts for the 2.0 really need to be able to be c-blocked by the process of getting the frozen tear? As the 2.0 pieces become easier to solo for alts it definitely seems to put more strain on the availability. The challenge doesn't seem to be the kill, the challenge is finding the dragon(s) up. This seems to be contrary to the rest of the modifications made for THF.

So the question:

Would adjusting the spawn time of the dragons be something worth considering at this point?

A suggestion as a simple solution is to make the tear fragment a 100% drop on any dragon besides Melalafen. That way we dont have to kill a dozen dragons to get 3 teardrops and ruin it for everyone else trying to get tears.

That would be way to easy imo I would suggest just lowering melalafen spawn times to be more in line with the rest of the 2.0 quest for big names. Though make it random to help keep from locked. Seeing as aow and dain are 12hr (static but dont get locked up doto 6 drops a kill) maybe make mlalafen 6-12 8-14 or even adding more whole tears to his drop table? The other small dragons in zone are (iirc) 2 hrs spawns and imo thats not that bad seeing as you zone in there all down and you know there up soon just like royals though maybe upping the frag drop rate a % or 2? idk just some thoughts for mela being a static 24 hr and dropping 1 piece he gets locked up way to often I think in the 25-30 epics Ive done I have only caught him up once lol

The following changes are live with the next reboot:

o Melalafen is now 12Hr respawn +/- 4 Hours.
o Melalafen is now guaranteed to drop 6 shards
o Fixed a bug that only allowed Melalafen to have a 1% chance rate of dropping the shards.
o 6 other dragons in Western Wastes had their respawn time reduced from 8Hr to 4Hr.

Nice I've only seen Mela up twice, once I zoned in the moment someone engaged him, the other was at about 4am. Did the 2.0 at least a couple dozen times, and not one of them got their completed tear from Mela A complete wipe of the zones lesser dragons usually netted enough fragments for about 2 combines for me (though I've heard of wipes where not a single fragment dropped ) I usually wouldn't start 2.0 on a toon until they pre-looted the fragments/icy emblems, then I'd just wait around for AoW/Dain to pop and it'd take me about 10 minutes to run through the rest of the quest -_-

Hardest part of the quest to me were those darn emblems. Could spend hours in icewell slaughtering dorfs en masse as soon as they popped and only see one. Then when I'd be cruising through for some other reason on another day I'd see half a dozen from one floor. But that's to be expected, at least it's a "grind" thing, akin to the the stones for 1.5, that newer players can grind at while they AA/etc.

It's good to see Mela changed though!

The emblems took me longer than the tears, but at least I got something out of Icewell. Clearing out all the dorfs then jumping down the well to clear out all the junk in the caverns nets a lot of aa xp. You can even work your smithing if you pick up the armor pieces, or horde all the no drop junk for solo auras.

I got Mela twice, all the rest of my toons had to get tears x 3 which just plain sucked. It's boring and nothing comes out of WW except some augs that get deleted pretty fast. I'm very happy for the change for the sake of the newer folks, but I got my last 3 tears last night the hard way and I'm not going to level any more toons so I'm done.
