The progression concerns you brought up were not something I factored into my post, and I agree with your points on that. This was why I couched my suggestion under the (almost) anything idea. I think you can be selective in what you make tradeable and still create a robust economy.

Aside from progression, I think we can all agree that there is a huge disparity between the number of desirable, tradeable items and items that are no trade. Money in any economy is worthless if there is little or nothing to buy. For example, after WWI, the Germans burned Deutschemarks because they were more valuable as a heating source than as a means to acquire food and other necessities. Platinum itself has no intrinsic value unless it represents a means of barter that is accepted by the player base, and right now we have hyper inflation due to a low supply of higher-end tradeable items in the market and a glut of platinum sitting in people's banks.

I don't know what an appropriate balance would be as far as which items should be marked tradeable, or whether that is even feasible from a limiting progression standpoint. What I do know is that without more tradeable items in the economy, platinum will continue to be perceived as worthless.

Kind Regards,

Step 1: Make all Augments Tradeable / attunable. PPL need tons of augs for their gears.
This would create a huge economy for the server since there is a VAST assortment of augs to choose from from all tiers. Also this wouldn't hurt progression much since ppl will mostly wait to aug the Awesome stuff since distillers cost RL money or 150AAs! ( Warning may cause the sell of more donor packages )
Step 2: Buyable Vanity Items! Illusions / Change Weapon Appearance via buyable bag! / Name your pets via buyable tome! / Change the appearance of your pet ( without him losing any stats) via buyable tome! ECT ECT
Step 3: DSK 3 and Vex Thal Access costs a fair amount of plat; however, Tier progression required to make the purchase to flag a char!
Step 4: Upgraded your NPC BoT's Spells to Tier 2 / 3 Via buyable Tomes!
Step 5: Remove Symbols of the Gods 50pt from Draekon / Volk loot tables in the game and make them buyable at a vender for plat instead ( This would stop PPL from Religiously blocking / farming symbols from Draekon / Volk in HoH so progressing guilds can actually catch the mob up sometimes and provide a decent plat sink hole) *Note you can still have the occasional Random drops from mobs in HoH just make sure its not a specific mob that drops them!

Symbols do not drop from any raid encounter in HoH. Defeating the event offers a significant amount of points for the kill via an auto update when the Boss dies. The symbols only come from trash/minis in the zone.

But it is an interesting idea, as well as many other interesting thoughts in this post. Keep it going, we are already discussing a few ideas that have been thrown around in here. :)

--EDIT--
So, I was just informed that the two events are dropping symbols when they are not suppose to be. I found and fixed the bug. With next reboot, no raid encounter will drop the symbols.
Oh the fun you all are going to have in DSK3...

- Pay a one time fee (per character) to an npc to upgrade Sune's buffs to R1, R2, R3. I just broke into T6 and I still get the same buffs from Sune so it appears her buffs have stopped getting better as I progress.

- Gear should remain no drop. I have resisted buying a blizzard stiletto for my noob rogues because its better than what I can get for a long time and I'd get bored. Augs on the other hand should all be attuneable. What a rich bazaar economy we would have if you could browse endless pages of augs to buy. Each tier is the same, get new armor and start re-auging everything. Look at /ooc right now, people are trading insane amounts for augs, they are in high demand.

- Off topic but I also am tired of the /ooc for donor gear. It feels wrong. I wouldn't mind another rule to keep that topic out of server chat and confined to a forum just like the 3rd party program stuff is.

How are we supposed to receive 50 point symbols other than event quests, now? Also, only Volkara, Draekon, and Seravince give points after their death (and only around 200). None of the other encounters give points upon death.

The Mini's have been given a % to drop the 50 point symbols. I did not realize that they were never given a % chance. Also, we may look into taking some advice from these posts and adding the 50pt symbols to vendors/casinos (not 100% for sure though)

This has already been fixed. All encounters award the points on death.

the only way to generate a real economy is to pull the plats away from the world , if not you get a stupid inflation. i sent a PM to lillu 2 years ago

have noticed that the casino isn't attractive anymore due to the Grand prices item beeing underpowered.

As we discussed before , the casino is a great way to take away the money out of the thf word and helps a lot to create a little economy.

I think you should add a lot more stuff to the casino such as GM event item and some little thing more attractive, like real illusion item ( not just potions ), etc

if the plats are needed to progress and/or get upgrades / usefull item , then people will farm them via killing or selling.

So, throwing another idea for a purchasable item/s to help in game plat... A one time use scroll/potion for high rank buffs. Maybe some of the rank 3's and rank 2's.
