Lucid Short Sword of Slaughter

I got my hands on this weapon today but I see it only has 3 aug slots and no extra planar dmg. Can the VT weapons be upgraded like the dsk3 weapons?

Its hard to consider replacing my HoH evolved sword with this.

told myself the same thing at first but then I realized that they had more hp/mana already on it than DSK3, then it had a worn2 effect that DSK3 doesn't have so all in all, it's even. And the proc is better than DSK3 since it's not a simple dd iirc.
So I prefer the VT version. I just would like to see a better graphic, maybe with some particles, but that should be taken care of when there is little time (I hope!).

well here is the basic numbers on the HoH evolved sword (T8) and the VT weapon (T9)

Turkaz, the Dark

Item Info: Using this weapon against your foes calls down the powers of Luclin upon their souls. This power will sometimes cause your opponent to take additional magical damage.


Things to consider.
Not all mobs will make use of the extra planar dmg, so thats 20 less dmg for Turkaz. However, the lack of bane dmg on VT sword means it cannot be use for HoH bosses unless I put an aug with bane dmg in there.

The proc on VT weapon is very nice. There is also the additional proc from the worn2 effect although i do not know how often it procs or what the proc effect is, the alla clone link is broken. webtools/spell.php?id=VTMeleeWeap

I did not consider skill mod 1hs 19% vs 20% b/c that is already on other gear most melee have. The same is the case with Effect: Ferocity XI (Worn) & Effect: Dark Thunder (Focus) on the Vt weapon, both of those most melee already have. However the worn effect on the T8 weapon is Effect: Weapon Mastery (Focus) (Increase Damage v2 1H Slashing by 5%) and that is very nice and not found anywhere else other than this weapon and donor weapons.


My suggestion/request would be that the 2 easily repeating worn focus Effect: Ferocity XI (Worn) & Effect: Dark Thunder be replaced with the Effect: Weapon Mastery (Focus). Considering the dsk3 weapon has extra planar bane dmg I would like to see this added as well. The innate proc is very strong but I would also like to see a 4th aug slot for a top tier weapon.

Hey Sticky, I think I can clear some things up.

Firstly, I'm > 90% sure that +1hs damage is treated like damage bonus. Your melee hit is calculated, bonuses and modifiers and all, and THEN the +35 1HS damage is added with no mods applied. It is the melee equivalent of +Spell DMG, which is again icing damage on top of the cake. If you swing for 3000 dmg, the +35 will bring it to precisely 3035.

Secondly,
Full descriptions for worn2 effects are coming with the next magelo update. But for now, this particular effect....

My understanding of Worn2 effects is that they act like a an additional buff bar of effects that never go away. A permanent Ferocity and Dodge buff, and this would then be a permanent melee proc buff. If that holds true, that means this worn2 proc affects both weapons. I'll need one of the other devs to confirm that, but I'm fairly confident in that understanding. Let's call it 70% confidence.

Assuming that is correct, the VT sword has a superior innate proc and a worn2 effect that acts as 2 procs for dual wielding classes. While I believe the sword to be better than you think it is, I also think you make several valid points in its shortcomings. I'll talk it over with the other devs. Thanks, sir :)

Noren is correct in how the worn2 buffs work. Essentially think of them as an invisible buff bar that never fade, do not have any max limits on how many you can have (except I guess it maxes when you do not have anymore slots...) and can stack with pretty much anything.

For this particular worn2, like Noren stated, it adds a proc chance to every attack made. So if you had this item equipped, both hits from primary and secondary weapons would have a chance to proc. While I do not know the actual % chance off the top of my head, it is fairly decent iirc.

Thanks for the info guys. I made the switch tonight. I still think the VT weapon could use some loving though =) And I agree with Sian the graphic is a bit dull.

Looking at the bottom of the description of other VT weapons they have a proc modifer of 25, this sword is -25. is that a typo?
