I used your excellent guide for most of my trades kills over the last several years, thanks Kitty.

It's worth mentioning that it's no longer necessary to subject yourself to the mind-numbing grind for deep water inks for Alchemy and you can now achieve skill 350!

In February 2015, Philter of Concealment was changed to 350 trivial. It costs more per combine (approx 9-10pp but the result sells for 3pp so ~7pp net cost) but the lootable ingredient is exceptional shissar blood, which is extremely abundant in shadow haven (50% off trash, 75% off bosses), which is far more common than deep water inks. In a single clearance of sirens you can maybe get 20 inks. In the same time you can easily get 60+ bloods (and the zone is so much easier to navigate). As an added bonus, xp is way better and you get some drops if you do the bosses. Plus loads of radiant crystals of course.

I'm now Alchemy 316 and rising, from around 290, after only 3-4 very short farming sessions in SH. So much better than deep water inks and gets you using the custom content at the same time (thanks BTW Lillu).

PS this also means we don't have to bug you to do our 3.0 combines this time

I finished getting to alchemy level 350 shortly after I posted above. Thought it might be worth noting that I saw no apparent change to the rate of failure after level 300. Each time I combined around 100 to 200 Philter of Concealments, the failure count was approximately 2-4 at level 300 and level 350.

Now, I know the law of probability tells me that could mean nothing but what I also noticed is the alchemy bag showed the skill as 300 and never changed after that. The recipe became trivial at 350 (as defined in the text in chat when completing the combine) but remained yellow in the recipe list, even when trivial (as opposed to changing to blue and then light blue, which normally happens as your skill approaches the trivial level).

My theory is that your skill is soft capped by the container, either by design, emu code limitation or error.

Basically, I don't think there was any benefit to me leveling up to 350 (though it didn't take long with the Concealment recipe).

It's definitely still worth using this recipe instead of the distillate recipe if you have enough plat. It's way faster and a lot more fun/rewarding. Just don't necessarily push much past 300 as everything I experienced strongly suggests it has no benefit.
