I thought that at first too but Dragon Fang does exactly 1200 damage with or without the BP equipped. The description of the item in game also said increases Dragon Fang by up to 0 percent.
Here are the ones we know aren't working:
Monk:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5086Even if this was working, why would monk only get 15% to one ability that's on a 30s refresh when other classes get +55%?
Cleric - same situation, in game the item description says reduces mana cost of Ancient Hallowed Light by 0%. It does not reduce the mana cost of that or any spell:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=4668The BP I upgraded from dropped in SSRA and reduced mana cost of ALL spells by 20% (
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=4469) so in order for this Focus Affect to be an upgrade it would need to reduce mana cost of all spells by 25% not just Ancient Hallowed light. Unless this focus effect was meant to stack with others. The only problem is that in all cases, it's replacing the item from T1 that would have the desired effect that applies to all spells.
SK - same situation, in game says increases damage of one particular tap by 0% and does not affect the damage of the tap listed. Our SK says he doesn't even use the tap referenced in the focus effect anyway because he has a better one:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=4830Necro and Mage - we are working on these quests right now and looking at the description of the items, I think the same problem is going to occur with focus effects not applying in these cases:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5508http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5601I think the intent of these focus effects was to give a stacking increase in damage or decrease in mana cost for a class's commonly used ability. But the focus does not actually work for the ability named and the effect is on a slot (BP) that normally has a similar effect that would apply to all spells. The exception is monk which doesn't get a bonus from +spell damage (I haven't seen this ever working which is why I want to try vampiric). To fix this I think a more global focus effect should apply to the chest slot (+damage of all spells like Vampiric Thunder mentioned before or +25% mana preservation applied to all spells like upgrade to BP of the Void) and the specific ability effect (if meant to stack) should get moved to a different slot or just eliminated since it doesn't seem to work currently and even if was working as intended, doesn't seem useful for most classes.
For my Monk, I'd much rather see something that gives +60% damage to my weapon procs (which typically hit for 175-200) which is what I think Vampiric Thunder is supposed to do (if it applies to weapon procs).
For my Cleric, I'd have to decide if 25% savings on one spell was better than 20% savings on all spells and since I use hot, group heal, group hot often in fights, I'd just stick with 20% all spells.
It's likely other classes will have the same problem but that's only if the focus effects were working.
