BROKEN - ToV Monk Chest Focus

Quested for this Monk chest in ToV:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5086

Not sure why it has +spell damage on a Monk chest, but regardless the spell damage does not apply to any ability, proc, or buff that my Monk is able to generate. It does not work on weapon procs, nor augments with procs, nor any monk tombs or abilities. It also does not work on lifetap aura buff.

It doesn't show up as a Focus Effect in Magelo or in #mystats.

I've tested everything I can think of and it seems like Wail of the Dragon does absolutely nothing.

Is there another place I need to report this for visibility?

This is the right place. It takes the devs a day or so to see posts and they will not always respond but 99% of the time it has been read and noted :)

I haven't played my monkey in forever but that seems like a strange focus to be on a melee item regardless. The click is really great though if you don't have a bard around even though there is very little pulling to be done here with the exception of Fennin Ro event and a spot or two in Sleepers

Yep, as Dred said we always read all post but not always reply to them immediately.

THF being a custom server has some real custom items and this is specially true for the early tiers as ToV. :)
If this given focus is not usable at all by monks then we are open for suggestion what should we replace it with.

+flying kick damage wouldn't be a bad replacement for spell damage.

I was gonna suggest Vampiric Thunder http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=7848 but i think +flying kick dmg might be a cooler choice since there are other options for thunder focus.

How much +flying kick dmg for the T2 robe? 50? Not like you would have a lot of other options for +flying kick dmg at this tier lvl.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I think there are two issues - 1) +15% spell damage isn't that great for monks in general and especially not for a T2 chest but bigger than that is 2) The +15% spell damage given by Wail of the Dragon just doesn't actually seem to work. I would expect it should apply to all procs/non-melee damage tombs and Solo Aura quest but it just does not systematically. It doesn't show up as a focus affect at all so I would guess it just isn't doing anything.

If Vampiric Thunder works correctly and properly applies to procs (only source of spell damage), it would be a much more appropriate focus affect so I'm all for testing that option instead.

+Flying Kick is really a stat/skill Damage Mod and not a focus effect. I'm T2 geared and have epic 2.0 so at this point i have +45/100 flying kick with the bonuses from epic 1.5 (+5), epic 2.0 (+15), and ToV gloves (+25). It makes sense for some +flying kick to be on monk-only items like these set pieces especially the chest. None of the other stats except hit points matter as the rest of them have been capped for me since before Ssra so +Flying kick is really all I have left to improve although DPS parsing shows +flying kick base damage is basically inconsequential unless discing due to damage from Death Strike vastly outweighing base damage. +Attack has been capped since like level 65 and my Avoidance, Accuracy are over double the cap. So I really only look at focus affects and hit points for item progression.

BUMP!! - I just got the cleric breast plate and I am noticing the same problem. Our guild's main tank also got the SK bp and also THAT focus affect does not work!

I think ALL of the ToV chest piece focus items are broken!!!

For sake of ease, can you link me all the ToV BPs that you guys have noted as broken? I will take a gander and figure out what is going on.

And do me a favor. Test the Damage on Dragon Fang with the BP on and with it off. My first guess is that the alla clone description is wrong and it is only limited to buffing dragon fang dmg by 15%.
Oh the fun you all are going to have in DSK3...
Simon says.. touch the green one! Nooooo BLIQUE NOT THE RED ONE! zomg you just got me "Vaion Touched"!

I thought that at first too but Dragon Fang does exactly 1200 damage with or without the BP equipped. The description of the item in game also said increases Dragon Fang by up to 0 percent.

Here are the ones we know aren't working:
Monk:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5086
Even if this was working, why would monk only get 15% to one ability that's on a 30s refresh when other classes get +55%?

Cleric - same situation, in game the item description says reduces mana cost of Ancient Hallowed Light by 0%. It does not reduce the mana cost of that or any spell:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=4668
The BP I upgraded from dropped in SSRA and reduced mana cost of ALL spells by 20% (http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=4469) so in order for this Focus Affect to be an upgrade it would need to reduce mana cost of all spells by 25% not just Ancient Hallowed light. Unless this focus effect was meant to stack with others. The only problem is that in all cases, it's replacing the item from T1 that would have the desired effect that applies to all spells.

SK - same situation, in game says increases damage of one particular tap by 0% and does not affect the damage of the tap listed. Our SK says he doesn't even use the tap referenced in the focus effect anyway because he has a better one:
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=4830

Necro and Mage - we are working on these quests right now and looking at the description of the items, I think the same problem is going to occur with focus effects not applying in these cases:

http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5508
http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... hp?id=5601

I think the intent of these focus effects was to give a stacking increase in damage or decrease in mana cost for a class's commonly used ability. But the focus does not actually work for the ability named and the effect is on a slot (BP) that normally has a similar effect that would apply to all spells. The exception is monk which doesn't get a bonus from +spell damage (I haven't seen this ever working which is why I want to try vampiric). To fix this I think a more global focus effect should apply to the chest slot (+damage of all spells like Vampiric Thunder mentioned before or +25% mana preservation applied to all spells like upgrade to BP of the Void) and the specific ability effect (if meant to stack) should get moved to a different slot or just eliminated since it doesn't seem to work currently and even if was working as intended, doesn't seem useful for most classes.

For my Monk, I'd much rather see something that gives +60% damage to my weapon procs (which typically hit for 175-200) which is what I think Vampiric Thunder is supposed to do (if it applies to weapon procs).

For my Cleric, I'd have to decide if 25% savings on one spell was better than 20% savings on all spells and since I use hot, group heal, group hot often in fights, I'd just stick with 20% all spells.

It's likely other classes will have the same problem but that's only if the focus effects were working.
