Underfoot choppy in forest

i have been playing titanium on a laptop fairly decently and i bought a much better PC, i5 6600k gtx 980..
i switched to underfoot on both the laptop and the PC and with only 1 character logged in any time i look in the direction of any of the custom THF graphics like the fairies or the mushrooms in the forest or elswhere, i get super laggy, screen is very choppy, but only when looking at the THF custom graphics... if anyone has had any experience with this any advice would be appreciated

Take a look at:

viewtopic.php?f=204&t=9195

tons of stuff in forums about how to handle such things. Personally I'd guess you are suffering from BufferBloat

You can test for BufferBloat at:

I have been having this problem as well. Game is unplayable for me which is weird since when I logged on a couple months ago I had no such issues with the same computer and set-up.

I second this experience. Used UF client for a little bit, but it was extremely laggy. After so much lag, you kind of get fed up, so I switched back to Titanium. Any fix?

Did you guys try to play with your advanced GFX setting in/out of game? HW vertes shade, pixel shader, advanced lighting, etc?

I did. I cut the pixel shading, advanced lighting, detailed sky etc on and off. Played with the gamma, spell effects, clip plain, cut off all the luclin models and none of it seemed to make a difference. The EQ lag/connection meter was around 40 to 50ms the entire time. The forest was very choppy. Guild hall seemed fine so I tried to zone in to HoH. Zone in was similar to forest once I got to the quest NPCs area but if I could make it pass there I was able to run around normally. It is very strange.

Was this a "one time" issue or constant?

I haven't tried a lot because of my job but in the last week to 10 days I have tried to log on 4 or 5 times and it has been that way every time. Doesn't seem to change with amount of time in game although I don't play but maybe 15 minutes or so and log out if I have issues. Tried different toons, zones, restart computer, settings etc. I have not tried a different client and I won't have time to for the next 2 to 3 weeks

I can remember a few years ago when having one guy more show up in a HoH instance could make me relog all of my characters. Play with the settings as indicated and do the new speed tests that test for BufferBloat. I've not yet been able to cure my BufferBloat....happens when things get intense, interestingly when you look at your internet use, you don't see much of a dramatic rise in bandwidth but tests show BufferBloat really increases. The interaction between the game downloading and you uploading (generally uploads are much more restricted bandwidth) really can make the game annoying.

Run this test, if your buffer bloat heads up towards a half second, that's more than reason enough:

https://sourceforge.net/speedtest/?source=sfnet_header

I did notice when I installed windows 10 that things got tougher..... lots of new overhead on the system.

Make Windows 10 interact less with servers everywhere by turning off everything but Windows defender with this:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details ... tup10.html

Do the standard stuff too, like don't have automatic updates (handled by OO_ShutUp10) and just do them manually when your computer is idle.

I was up in Colorado a week ago and had a 120 mbps connection, insane speed, made all the difference in the world. All of our constant fighting getting things nice is to increase the efficiency of weak and low bandwidth connections. Where I live I generally get about 30 mbps pushed through aging systems and filled with faults.

Here's my current miserable Buffer Bloat problem. Note in this graph that my buffer bloat on upload peaks out at nearly 7/10s of a second. This leads to the standard vibrato with your fingers when repeatedly clicking clickies with your mouse and watching nothing happen, pretty annoying.

I bought a router I got for $40 from Ebay. I'll let you guys know if the DD-WRT LEED firmware will make the router into a bloat eating machine on my system when it is set up.
