I never had a shaman as a main but....yes. Shaman's have an incredible donor buff but that is about it. AND the buff can be added out of combat and then the shaman camped.

Yes they need help to make them a viable THF class. The Pet remains to me the most obvious immediate place of improvement as Shaman's have all the cool pet commands and etc that cost quite a few AAs.

Anything to make a Shaman more useful in fights seems a good idea. Maybe a combat buff or two that Sune doesn't provide.

Okie dokie gents and ladies....

Round 1 changes:

Shaman have been given a new pet spell (Wunshi's Protector) level 70. No need to buy from any merchant, just gather from the spell NPC.

The pet is a little (very little) stronger than WoS pets, agreed that a quested pet shouldnt outshine the normal pet imo. And to make the pet a little more enticing, and to capture some other requests here, I gave it a very unique ability.

So long as the pet is alive, and within 100 radius of a player, it will heal all nearby players for 2% of their health every 10s. So it's like a built in HoT that will always cast and scales with player HP. It wont keep you alive from every fight, but it should help with those random AEs and Dot that we like to throw on events :)

This will go live with the next reboot/patcher push (prolly tomorrow/Wednesday).

If you guys have other ideas/thoughts please keep posting. We dont want specific classes to just become buff bots to drag along. Each class should offer unique aspects to gameplay and be engaging enough to want to play ;)

Also, please keep providing feedback on lag/latency/disconnects. I am constantly evaluating different parts of the code to see where optimizations can be made to help out.

Forgot to mention also, there is a limit to the # of shaman pets that can be used in the same radius at a time. The limit is 5 pets. So at max you can heal 10%.

This helps prevent people from abusing the pet and stacking 20 shamans or w/e to over heal.

Sounds like a great step on making shamans more active in fights.

Another thing that might be done is to change the donor weapon spell: Turgur's Infestation. This spell is un-resistable but many top bosses return the message "cannot be slowed" such as Rallos Zek. Now that seems weak especially compared to a Druid's Donor BP that seems to always have a huge effect on every mob. If the desire on the part of the developers is to keep unslowable mobs unslowable maybe Turgur's Infestation could have another effect that is always un-resistable and always lands such as:

an AC debuff
a reposte limiter
a silence spell
or maybe it makes the shaman completely resistant to being silenced (only the shaman can heal while all the other healers can't do anything)

I'm sure folks who have been shamans as mains would have lots of ideas to contribute.

I tried to get the new pet from Organ in the Forest and he tells me I can't teach you anymore. Is there another spell guy i'm forgetting?

The pet idea is a good idea, will there be a T8 Rk. I, II, T9 Rk. III version? For already post level 70 Shaman can they retrieve the without rewriting their spellbooks and losing all their gained LDON and Tier drop/purchase/quest spells?

If no further upgrades are planned does it have enough HP to be survivable in T8+ raid settings or will end game players still have to default to Draekon pets?

Also, I digress a little from previous comments about the weak heals, I've got an old solo play shammy I group now and he has Spiritual Touch Rk. II with an Rk. I clicky item and he spot heals and pet heals just fine. With all the T7-9 spell healing focus/worn effects with buffs and whatnot he can heal on average between 20-30K HP which is only a few Ks down from Cleric and Druid.

I would say that reducing resists against their debuffs would be great since Shaman is the Malo and Slow character but where Shaman Malo fails, ENC and MAG often succeed. Then as Rafe pointed out, their Slows are usually resisted. This is coming from similarly geared and AAed toons on the same mobs and bosses. Shaman should be the jack of all trades support toon, but not the best for anything except maybe HoT and Buffs but that's covered.

Also, a decent DoT or two (not to rival NEC) or a worth while DD spell would be nice. The Shaman has little to offer in combat as it stands versus the average toon.

My two cents...

Odd, I’ll take a look tonight and see what’s going on. It’s showing in the love database but maybe good ole Organ needs a refresher on his teaching lessons.

Worse case I can write a login script that will auto mem it for everyone who doesn’t have it.
