Yes, but it shows that my account has no characters on it—made a patchme shortcut to start the game.

Magelo says I exist so I assume it's a display bug from not having the latest files.

I recall a very few times when I logged on without the patch files, and my toons still showed up fine. And seeing your toon on Magelo only means the toon exists...it does not show what account it is attached too. This phenom is something I would submit to Lillu, as he can see toons and accounts.

I want to suggest making a toon on that toonless account, just to make sure that your RoF2 (in general) works, but I would be afraid of possibly messing up the toons that are supposed to be there. So perhaps, create a new account and use THAT as a test. Create an account, make a toon, Enter it in the game. If all works well then great, as you have verified most of the install. And what remains, like you mentioned, is just the launcher. And then we can focus our efforts on that.

I have a bunch of accounts, so I'll try making a new toon on one of the less-geared ones

The "missing character" issue is quite common coming from a simple confusion. There's two different account type, THF and eqemu, they can (unfortunately) have the same name and same password.. THF accounts takes priority upon login if connected via the THF login server so if that account is newly created, it's empty, while you are still having your characters on the eqemu account just fine.

Realized that and changed the login server to THF, came to post that I found my character again haha.

Looks like just the launcher is bugged, as I can login okay. Game seems fine, but I'm sure I'm missing some assets.

Ok, try this patcher, it's a modified version with less strict "checks" on your system. It worked for me so should be good for anyone having this issue. Just unzip it, copy to your EQ folder and run.
