Noble's Augs

Forgive me if this has been brought up but I have not found a post about these yet.

The augs were meant to be an upgrade to the ones from T8/HOH, correct? If so was there are reason they are slot 8/17 only and 18 was left off?

They're not really to "upgrade" on HOH. They're just added to T9 content to give more options for augs. We felt the aug options in T9 were pretty thin before NC and DSB were added and used these two zones as a way to fill that content out for players.

In total, the augs added are:

NC:
3x slot 16 augs (not lore)
16x slot 17 augs (one for each gear slot)

DSB:
The same 16 slot augs
16x slot 18 augs (one for each gear slot)
12x slot 8 augs

The items that drop in NC are mostly just slot 18 (which can initially be filled by the pre-existing 18 augs from T9 if no access gained to DSB yet) but the items in DSB have both 17 and 18. The idea is to reward players who complete the instance with enough augs to fill all their items with both slot 17 and 18.

I think if we just made both sets of augs 17 and 18 it would be overkill and I believe that there isn't a shortfall for aug choice in the tier currently. But if you can identify some slots that have a dearth of options please provide the examples so we can add new augs to fill that gap!

Following on from my post above, on the note of NC vs DSB (and T9 vs the rest of the content I suppose), I think I acknowledge that running the instance and VT repeatedly is perhaps less of a relaxing passtime (i.e. not something you can just do daily for a bit of fun to get some items and upgrades).

I know some players like the challenge and I think it's great to have stuff that does fill that niche but we've listened a lot to player feedback about T9 content and we're definitely going to add some things in future that will also fill the, probably much larger, niche of players who like a challenge but do just like a good old, somewhat mindless dungeon crawl.

When this happens, there may be alternatives to everything you see now in the content, perhaps a little more time-consuming to achieve but definitely less "intensive", so filling up a bunch of empty/low rank aug slots won't necessary require lots of runs of places like VT and DSB. Will keep you all updated once we get there.

Ok that makes sense I guess.

I am looking at it from this perspective and this is basically how it went when I looted a couple of them.

Hey look cool an aug.
Oh its a XXXXr aug.
Let me check my xxxxx on various toons.
Ok every one has a slot 8 better than that, let me check the slot 17's.

Then I go through and find I have no slot 17 in gear to plug them into or the 17 I have is better than what just dropped BUT then I look at the slot 18 and it is still an HOH aug.

If your gear slot is not 4 slot gear you don't have a 17. Look at most of the drops in DSK3/VT that aren't quested upgrades they are 8/16/18.

Also just checked this after posting looking at the gear that drops in NC.

No slot 17
Blighted Batskull Trophy
Guardian's Gorget
Mask of the Noble
Majester's Chains
Wraps of the Expanse
Cold Stone Bracer

Belt of the Canyon is the only one with a slot 17

I know maybe not the best examples due to the slot / class restrictions on above mentioned items. I am not talking slot 8 here either those are plenty and more than available all throughout THF.


Also noticed there are 22 mobs with the above mentioned gear on their loot table but only 10 mobs listed to drop the augs.
