so what you're saying is unless i have a guild/group or have spent hundreds of dollars on donor gear there's no point in even bothering since i'll never get anywhere solo. so much for this game then. i mean my original post was about joining a guild or something but noone offered and have said it's pointless soloing so guess i'll just find another game.

You do not need Donor gear!
Donor gear makes you powerful, very powerful and perhaps too easy.
I have many characters, only 1 has a Donor weapon, a Shaman. It doesnt make a lot of difference.
On my primary mage I have an epic 2.0 and a few pieces of T6 gear, I can solo quite well, but just FYI, I have a Necro with far less gear, and can solo even easier. Pets for both are tough. Play have fun, if you get to a point where you want Donor gear, go for it, it helps everyone, but at some point group up, interact, do more, get help and help others.

wpgmlp...sheesh, I had no idea that you would respond to my (our?) posts in such an exaggerated, immature way. But ok, let's go with it. Let's use your attitude.
"no point in bothering" - that depends on what kind of game you want. If you are looking for a brainless cell phone game that a 6-year-old can beat in 5 minutes, then yeah this game is not for you. This game takes a certain amount of skill and tactics...and the higher you go, the more it takes. I'm a rather crappy player but I still have fun. But thats just me.
"never get anywhere solo" - you solo leveled a non-donor mage to 52. If you would pause your complaining long enough, you will recall that original EQ (which you said you had played) killed you 100% of time after about level 15-20.
"so much for this game" - your comment implies shade on this game...well, throwing shade on a grouping game for being a grouping game isn't just silly, it's downright stupid.
"joining a guild or something but noone offered" - you were offered "something" within hours of your original post...good gear appropriate for your level. And if you want to join a guild then simply do what everyone else does..."ask". Generally speaking, we here in THF don't do the guild-nagging that became so common in EQ and in other grouping games. Oh, and btw, the guy that offered you gear is also a guild leader.

first of all, before jumping to conclusions and outright insulting people by picking apart every little thing they said, maybe offer help instead of ripping them apart. Secondly I meant no disrespect to anyone playing this game. I know mmos are "Multiplayer" requiring multiple people to progress.
I'm not a brain dead moron, I have dysthymia. I lose interest in pretty much everything, feel like absolute garbage and hopeless, lack productivity, and have low self-esteem and an overall feeling of inadequacy. These feelings last for years and messes with every part of my social life and daily activities.
So i had a low point in my day and lashed out. If I could delete the whole post I would. Sorry you took such horrible offense to a few lines. I never called anyone any names, never put anyone down, simply asked some questions and was destroyed for it.

Hey wpgmlp, sometimes simple questions can be passive aggressive and offend many. Seeing some of your comments I also wonder.. Anyhow, please listen to what these guys replied in this thread as they are THF veterans and valuable members of our community for a very long time. They replied your thread to actually help you.
That being said I hope you'll find fun on THF, but please note, this is a custom server and has nothing to do with P99 or classic EverQuest, at least progression wise.

My 2 cents is there is a lot of play styles and personality types on here. In my experience there has been more people looking to help someone than people needing help though. I started a guild with my friend just so I didn't have to talk to anyone, but for the most part everyone here is helpful and I eventually branched out over time. Some days I got on just to manage inventory or to try something out or to explore for the heck of it or just to play with crafting, all just to relax. So I would say give it some time and see what you like. You can guild hop or start your own guild, play how and when you want, but if it makes your dysthymia worse, or the dysthymia and EQ don't jive you can always take a break for a while as there are no fees! People come back after years on here all the time. It may not scratch your itch though and I think thats ok.

I am a very causual player, and enjoy the server alot.
My recommendation is to check out MQ2. Its free, you run it before you run everquest, and it links your players together so you can command them all from one character. If you like to learn things, this is kinda fun, and with some help from others will probably take you about 1 afternoon.
As for the server, you will need a group of 6 characters to make it very far. This involves lots of farming and quests and chars dying and all the fun that EQ has to offer. Your characters get great loot along the way, and if you "stay in your lane" you will progress nicely.
I have yet to donate, and I have up to 12 characters I can run if/when need be. It can be a pain, but honestly it is kinda fun figuring out how to get all your toons working together.
Honestly, if you are looking for the old EQ experience where you go LFG and find random players, this server isnt really that. Almost the entire server is individuals, playing multiple characters, created a guild so they can all be in it. You will not find very many, if any, single players not boxing.
There is alot to offer here, but I think this is a fair assesment of the server.
