Hi all,
I've been doing Redfang a bit lately, beat him for the first time yesterday, after many, many, many attempts.
1. My biggest issue appears to be with the Frayed Bats.
They are immune to tash, malo, etc until you can work out what they are vulnerable too. My issue is that I've been facing them and having to go one by one and blind, root, reverse DS each of them. I've been trying to use a druid with AE root and blind, but getting many resist messages so not sure if it's working. I then try the same and reverse DS with cleric, and get resists with all those spells. Then try to mez with a chanter. They resist. So I cycle through each toon and debuff again. Then it appears I must be taking too long as the encounter keeps despawning and saying it'll restart in 3 mins. When you've killed all but redfang and 4+ blue con bats for that to happen, it's VERY frustrating and not enjoyable at all. Which leads me to 2.
2. I finally beat it a second time today, but something very weird happened. I managed to get to Redfang, Zharn - needs to be rooted (kept resisting for about 15mins) and some Frayed bats. Some of the Frayed were dead, but I had three left.
After using a bunch of different toons to try root Zharn, including pally, chanter, druid and cleric, the encounter despawned. I'd been going quite a while, but it seemed different. I didn't get the come back in 3 mins message.
I then had a near Instant respawn of Redfang, with 4 named bats.
They charged me where I'd been fighting a few seconds earlier. Despawned.
Redfang then respawned with Hurshz and 2 Frayed Bats only. I fought them - this time pally blind worked, although druid and cleric didn't. Mezzed and killed Hurshz, then redfang died and I won.
I'm sure it's not intended to be a) that hard to win or b) despawn/respawn like that.
Surely it's not designed that only one class can land a spell, but you have to work out which one? If it's intended that way, could it be modified to unlimited time? It's very difficult going toon by toon, for each mob, casting all spells and then moving to the next toon to repeat, only to have no idea if it's going to work. Then to have it reset....it's at a point where I've contemplated just retiring than continually beatingmy head against the randomness. I need to do it at least 2 more times successfully to move past it into DSK 2. At that point I'd never come back and do it again if I don't give in before then.
Additionally, the quest NPC hands back the heads for DSK2 and says he has no need for them, even though the quest updates. I can then hail on the few toons who have access and go to the inner area.
