Terrible lag in some zones

If your character selection screen is empty, that's most probably because you are loggin in through eqemu login server vs. THF login server(or vice versa).

Please make sure you understand and follow the Getting Started guide when setting your client up. viewtopic.php?f=51&t=14169
Every little detail matters to successfully set your client up.

As for the zone lag, it's not related to corrupted zone file because a corrupted zone file would result in not being able to zone into that specific zone at all. I'd imagine it's some settings related to your setup. Maybe try to set GFX settings to low and turn extra features down and see if you still experience the lag. If that solves the issue, start to turn back things and see when the issue arise again.

and set my settings to what this guy has and it seems to have worked! I think it has to do with the pixel shaders... could also be those frame rates. I am going to load up the team and see how it does.

There is nothing wrong with your set up or hardware. Something is definitely wrong in these zones. Run up the hill in Valor and turn towards the lower area and it's a chop-fest. Storms is the same thing at the zone in as soon as you turn left. Reducing clip plane to 0% has no effect.
