Crushbone leveling guide
For newer players to the server, Crushbone can be pretty unforgiving if you don't know where you're going. Because of its' small size the level range of monsters you'll encounter will vary significantly even if you only move a short distance. For more experienced players and power-levelers it can be a great place to get levels quickly with high level buffs, but if you're trying to progress on your own you'll need to know a few things.
First and foremost this is all assuming you are using a bot. If you don't know what type of bot you want people in /ooc are generally very helpful. For newer players there is an NPC inside the hub (Hidden Forest) which will tell you everything you could need to know about bots, as well as a very informative post on the forums that can be found here.
- IMPORTANT: For lower levels (anything below level 20) do NOT go past the slaver hut up the hill, there are very nasty level 20+ orcs there that will kill you almost instantly without high level buffs.
Most of the pulls in Crushbone are no less than two, and come sometimes be up to three or more at once, especially once you reach the keep and the large camp across the river. It's very important to abuse any sort of crowd control method you have, whether it be roots, mez, or lull.
- Levels 1-10
The entrance of Crushbone is for levels 1-7, mainly fighting pawns/centurions until you can move down to the slaver house which will accommodate players up to the low teens. If you find that you're running out of monsters you can loop around back to the entrance, and hang an immediate right passing Grevel on your way. Once you reach the keep area surrounded by the moat, keep to the right and you'll find more slavers and legionnaires. Be careful however because there are elementals here as well that are slightly harder, and you should be at least level 10 or higher before engaging them.
- Levels 10-20
Once you reach the 10-12 level range you should have enough gear through trash drops to start taking on elementals. These along with the previous two places listed above will help you on your way to level 20. Some of these elementals are paladins, so be careful when trying to fight more than one at a time, they will often use Lay on Hands and you'll have to kill them all over again. This leveling area is pretty straight forward, there is a cave with Archin Hammerhand in front of it for the Orcanite quest which contains a lot of these monsters, as well as the far side of the zone near the castle.
This is the point in time where leveling will become a little slower if you're in the mid to high teens. Usually there are multiple people in the zone at the same time, and there aren't many of these mid level monsters to kill because of the small size of the zone. If you're finding that you are running short on monsters just try to find whatever you can, orc oracles as well as legionnaires/warlords should help you to bridge the gap between elemental spawns. However if there are simply too many players and not enough to kill, my suggestion would be relocating to either Paludal or Unrest. Both of these zones are much larger and have a wider level spread with plenty to kill.
- Levels 20-30
- IMPORTANT: Make sure once you reach this point that you've picked up the Grevel quest, along with the The Orc Slayer which you will be able to do simultaneously at this level range.
Once you reach the low 20s, you can start to move your way towards the foot of the castle, along with the large camp of orcs near the elemental cave. Keep in mind there is still a relatively large level gap between you and the stuff you're fighting. orc champions are the hardest hitting monsters in the zone aside from bosses, and they have boatloads more health to boot. These are very dangerous monsters and you should be absolutely sure how much you are pulling before you engage, unless you want a quick trip to town. Stompers are slightly easier than champions but can still pack a punch, they have significantly less health and are recommended for the early 20s whenever you run across them.
If you've made it to the mid 20s by now you should notice a significant difference in your bots damage output and ability to tank, you should be fairly safe to move inside the keep and make your camp inside Darishs' room. This is where I personally level, you can get the most amount of pulls from a short distance, and respawns aren't as big of a deal if you sit near the window behind the table. The only downside to this spot is there isn't really an easy place to escape, if you pull to much you're likely going to be killed.
The last pinnacle of the zone is killing Dvinn, along with Emperor Crush. Both of these bosses enrage and deal a pretty fair amount of damage, however they have little more health than the champions you should be easily killing by now anyway. Killing them will yield the leg pattern for class armor along with sometimes the chest. With that you will have conquered the entirety of Crushbone and will be making your way towards the 30-55 range once you attain the level requirement, congratulations and good luck!
