Not all quests are short and sweet and will only occupy a portion of your time. Some quests, such as "Xikanir's Ring" are deisnged to be quests that will stay with you through many teirs and encounters.

Quest mobs:

Gwinor the Gnome is a denizen of The Hidden Vale - an old and wise wizard now retired and seeking a quiet life. You can find him at location -106, 1380.

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin (Iksar) is a torrmented soul found in the depths of Kaesora within the confines of a library. You can find him at location 77, -395.

Quest text:

Gwinor Quote: You say, 'Hail, Gwinor'

Gwinor says, 'Hail, and well met traveler. You're a new face around here! If you have a moment, would you be interested in hearing a tale from an old man?'

You say, 'I would love to hear a story.'

Gwinor says, 'Wonderful! Please take a seat and let me regale you with an ancient legend my grandfather once told me. Back many, many years ago our world was then also ravaged by the armies of chaos and all seemed hopeless. The savages took every stronghold and nothing could withstand their advances.'

You say, 'Nothing at all?'

Gwinor says, 'No, nothing at all ... all seemed lost until the Lords of Order were able to create a ring of unbridled power to aid in thwarting their horrendous advances. At that time, Xikanir the only surviving Iksar Paladin stepped forward to lead the armies of Order. To him was the responsibility given to wield this ring.'

You say, 'What happened to Xikanir'

Gwinor says, 'That's just it, Fyske! No one knows! We do know that the armies or Order succeeded and balanced was restored to our world. Many rumors abound regarding what happened, but it is well known that the final battle took place in a distant land called the Field of Bone. There you can still see the remains of one of the fearsome Chaotic dragons.'

You say, 'Can you tell me any more?'

Gwinor says, 'Ah! Eager are we? Well, I'm sure an intrepid explorer such as yourself will be safe enough ...'

Gwinor lowers his voice to barely a whisper.

Gwinor says, 'I've heard of a place long ago forgotten in this Field of Bone, deep underground. You may find the knowledge the answers you seek there for I hear that there is a library inside. Maybe you will find a journal or something? Please, whatever you find, let me know about it! Curiosity drives at me too, but at my age, I could not survive the journey.'

Xikanir Quote: You say, 'Hail, Xikanir the Cursed Paladin'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin says, 'H ... e ... l ... p ... m ... e'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin points to his finger and you see a small white pulsating light ... it's the ring!

You say, 'The ring! It torments you, doesnt it?'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin says, 'Y ... e ... s'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin points to a book nearby ... maybe you should read it?

You say, 'You want me to read the book?'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin nods solemnly.

Inside the book you read about how the Lords of Chaos used their last efforts before defeat to curse Xikanir's ring and use it to imprison him eternally in this form. It seems there is a way to reverse the curse, however.

You say, 'It says I can reverse the curse!'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin manages a slight smile and nods again.

The book says that you must assemble all the ancient symbols in his presence ... The Symbol of Treachery from the ancient dragon, Vulak`Aerr. The Symbol of Greed from Kerafym the Sleeper. The Symbol of Chaos from Fennin Ro the Tyrant of Fire. The Symbol of Order from Xegony the Queen of Air.

You say, 'I will get those symbols for you and return!'

Xikanir the Cursed Paladin smiles at you briefly before he begins swaying back and forth again in agony.

Suggested level:

70 raid

The task:

The task is rather simple really ... in order to reverse and remove the cursed ring, you will need to find and collect four symbols from various raid bosses:

The Symbol of Greed from the ancient dragon, Vulak`Aerr The Symbol of Treachery from Kerafym the Sleeper The Symbol of Chaos from Fennin Ro the Tyrant of Fire The Symbol of Order from Xegony the Queen of Air

  • Note* The symbols of greed and treachery are reversed in the quest text, but that really doesn't affect the quest.

The reward:

Ring for the Strong (Paladin, Shadow Knight, Warrior) Ring for the Wild (Bard, Ranger, Rogue, Beastlord, Berserker) Ring for the Spiritual (Cleric, Druid, Shaman) Ring for the Energized (Wizard, Necromancer, Enchanter, Magician)
